So less than a week to go, having spent a week in England last week I am now firmly rooting against them :-D Just to see how quick all those flags and bunting goes away LOL

So who are you backing?

Would like the Dutch to do well this time :-)

Suzie

No-one! I plan on avoiding the whole boring thing.

Greig

You can support England then :-D

Suzie
7th June 2010, 20:50
Oh God no, as if having to hear about 1966 isn't bad enough!
Italy and Brazil if I HAVE to choose.

having spent a week in England last week

We let just about anyone in this country now...!!! :lol

Come on England... :-D

Think Spain or Brazil will win it, the reality is we're a semi-final team, if we make it that far we've done well... :-)

short of any direct fraud & bribe scandals, it's Italy for me again.

Car flags should be banned, as should overweight beer bellied England shirt wearing blokes who congregate in pubs and pretend they really are England supporters the rest of the year (see below).

P.S. Bah Humbug! :-D

The bar near my house has a massive England flag outside for the World Cup - the English squaddies from the nearby barracks drink there so needless to say I will be staying away from all the ENG-GER-LAND supporters :-P

Ste

Obviously supporting England, up to the point we get knocked out. Then I'll be supporting Spain - I think they'll win it this year.

England and Netherlands (my Father and Mother-Land respectively) as always. I've got my Orange shirt on, and will be swapping them round as needed :-)

England - USA great start to the game!
England is the second team I`m cheering for after Germany (who are not looking too favourite to win after injuries to key players unfortunately). I`d like to see England win the World Cup :-)

Well done the USA, did not think they would be a pushover despite what the English pundits thought, England played well enough and should still go through anyway :-)

I think the game was interesting, enjoyed watching it :-)

ek583
12th June 2010, 22:25
The game just summed up what it's like being an England fan. Overall, the team played really well, the Americans didn't deserve a single point. Apart from that shocker from Rob Green, we should have cruised it.

Simply one word - frustrating!

That was certainly a goal ( and this comes from a Germany fan)....oh well, I still think Germany would have won anyway just because they were the better side yesterday

Sounds like they will now be doing goal line technology, wonder if it will just be for major tournaments or for top leagues as well.

Tifoso

They need to do it everywhere, IMHO.

Think even a Sunday league team could of beaten them. Looked as if they didnt know how to play football. Shameful. Hope the players get boooed at their own clubs. What makes it worse is fact that so many forgieners play in Premier league that home grown talent is going wasted by not being spotted. There is a big problem with English football and it goes all way to top of F.A.

I agree with you, in England most clubs are always trying their best to attract class players from other countries and leagues whereas in other countries in Europe young talented players get promoted in the senior teams quite rapidly

What a game by Germany, 4-0 against Argentina :clap and it was awesome to see my fave ( aka Germany`s injured captain) cheer for his team :-D I predict a Germany- Holland final!
Last night`s game between Ghana and Uruguay was also very good to watch for any football fan imo :-)
I also find a bit shocking the fact that "superstars" like Ronaldo, Messi went missing when they would have been most needed to perform well on the pitch :-)

Yea, agree! Spain definitely got the biggest cheer at the start and then when they won! Epic!

Not sure why they didn't start with Fabregas, he transformed every game he played in!
