God i bloody love Spa, my favourite :love:love
Wonderful circuit, lovely part of the world, so many super corners like Blanchimont & Pouhon. Eau Rouge is still fantastic imo despite the V8's and re-profiling. Kimi winning there 4 times and Mika's 2000 race just compound my affection and appreciation for Spa.

Monza is my 2nd favourite circuit.

Fan are amazingly close to the action...That's natural selection waiting to happen. Probably cars didn't go off-track as much as they do now because drivers wouldn't risk the very serious consequences, but still it's pretty risky to stay there.

I don't think many will disagree with you about Spa being the greatest circuit in the world.
I agree with you, with Monza & Suzuka just behind Spa :thumb

As an Englishman, i don't really rate Silverstone as a circuit that much.
Sure, the history of it is there and when i'm there i think of all the legends that have raced there & i absolutely love the GP weekends but i would say it's probably only my 5th or 6th favourite circuit.

I think you will find that even the great Spa has succumbed to modern safety regulations and has quite a lot of tarmac run-offs.

Yep it's still by far the best circuit but I believe the introduction of lots of tarmac run-off areas was not just to do with F1 regulations but happened because Spa had to start making money out of track days. Once the new road was built running from just north of La Source round the outside of Eau Rouge and along the Kemmel straight to the other end they were able to shut the circuit off full time. This brings the circuit much needed money from corporate and private test days but drivers did not want to run the risk of putting their pride and joy in the kitty litter and wrecking the paint job and underside of their car. Tarmac run-offs mean these drivers keep their car pristine unless they are really stupid.

Shame but the sign of the times.

Les Combes-chicane at Francorchamps modified


In a bid to deter drivers from cutting the corners, the "Les Combes"-chicane at the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit has been modified. The large section of grass behind the corner sequence has been relaid with asphalt and bumps have been put down to slow drivers down if they run off track.

expect some rain for tomorrow and prolly the rest of the weekend, last 2 days have been heavy showers and reasonable temperatures and it looks like we will be stuck in that sort of weather for a while. this being belgium, that can change overnight. it just doesnt seem very likely atm
