The Ferrari 458 Italia continues to collect trophies around the world, with two top awards from Europe and China presented to the Ferrari supercar in the just 24 hours after it won the “Performance Car of the Year 2010” from Auto Express, Britain’s biggest selling weekly car magazine, and it was named Super Sportscar of the Year at a ceremony in Shanghai in the “Best of the Best Awards” from the Robb Report China magazine. In a packed field of 20 of the greatest performance cars on sale in the UK, it was the Ferrari which was the clear favourite of the judging panel. All cars were scored for performance and handling both on road and on track, as well as for sheer desirability, with the 458 Italia earning top marks in all three categories. David Johns, Editor in Chief of Auto Express, commented: “The 458 Italia is one of the finest cars Ferrari has ever produced and emerged as the clear winner of our performance car shootout. When we totted up the results it topped the score sheets of all of our judges.”
The Robb Report, the international magazine that guides the world’s wealthiest consumers to the best products around the world, recently launched its China edition to meet the needs to that country’s changing consumers. Like its fellow titles around the world, the Robb Report China holds an annual “Best of the Best Awards” for its readers and the Ferrari 458 Italia came out as the clear winner in its category.
In the 12 months since its unveiling at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 458 Italia has earned widespread critical and public acclaim, not merely in response to high profile achievements such as being named Car of the Year by BBC’s Top Gear Magazine, but also as a result of its performance in very tough test-drives on both track and road.
In recent months, the Ferrari 458 Italia has undergone in-depth specialist testing right around the globe which have highlighted its exceptional performance standards and superlative driving pleasure. The authoritative British car magazine, Autocar described it thus: “The 458 Italia is the new sportscar benchmark”.
