Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport Costa said, "The overview is very positive. We covered 1,400km across all fuel levels also tried the new tyres and started doing some set up and development work. All our wind tunnel and simulation numbers matched up with the ones from the track. We are fast, even if it’s too early to say how fast compared to the others. "
Ferrari will be back on track at Jerez next week and the team will once again focus on set up work with the F10 as well as the introducing new mechanical components as the development really starts. Ferrari are planning new aerodynamic updates for the final test at Barcelona.
Meanwhile Felipe Massa has been speaking to Corriere dello Sport and was keen not to commit his future to Ferrari, unlike new team mate Fernando Alonso who stated Ferrari would be the final team of his career. Massa who is only 28 admits he would have to look elsewhere if his current Ferrari contract was not renewed. Massa has a contract for 2010 and he is hoping that an agreement with Ferrari can be reached as he feels at home with the Maranello team.
"Alonso is right when he says that leaving Ferrari to go to a better place is unlikely if not possible," said Massa. "I feel at home here, but I also want to race for many more years." Felipe dismissed suggestions that his race seat at Ferrari is under threat by the constant rumours that Valentino Rossi would want to make the switch from MotoGP to Formula 1.
"Valentino has been 90 per cent playing, and 10 per cent seeing if he could have a future in cars. But at his age it is not so easy to start building up the necessary experience," said Massa. The Brazilian driver who is a big fans favourite admitted there had been some initial talk about a contract renewal but nothing was certain just yet.
