After a brief spelling working for Packard Electric as a production engineer on 1991, Chris went on to become a designer and data analysis engineer for Australian based GT touring car outfit Holden Racing Team.
After working for four years in touring cars, Chris got his first break into Formula 1 in 1997 when he moved to England and joined British F1 team Arrows run by Tom Walkingshaw. Chris's role during this time was that of data analysis and track engineer, a position he held until the end of 2000.
In 2001 Chris moved to Italy and joined the Maranello squad, where initially he held the position of a telemetry engineer working under Michael Schumacher's then race engineer Luca Baldisserri.
Being a hard worker, coupled with his relaxed and calm manner and his attention detail though soon meant that Chris rose up the ranks and became Michael's race engineer four races from the end of the 2002 season. Despite all the pressure of working with such a successful and demanding world champion Chris fulfilled this role assisting Michael to two further F1 World Championships in 2003 and 2004.
After 7 times world champion Michael Schumacher retired at the end of 2006, Chris then became the race engineer for Ferrari's new Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen. After an initially wobbly start to things this year (with Kimi looking like he was struggling to fit in at Ferrari and get used to their systems) it appears that things have now settled down and Chris commitment to working hard and trying to do the best for his driver is now paying dividends.
Ever the practical type Chris apparently drives a Fiat Multipla despite the fact they are not very attractive cars, he says they are useful with plenty of internal space. Chris lives in the hills surrounding Maranello with his wife Fiona. Despite Chris admitting he doesn't speak very good Italian - it doesn't seem to have stopped him being successful at Ferrari so far!
