I was expecting the pole, from Massa or from Fernando, Vettel surprises me. Tomorrow is going to be a fierce battle between Vettel and our drivers, I don't think Hamilton have the right car to fight for the podium but Fernando need to be careful at the start.

Kubica did a great job and Nico destroyed Schumi as expected.

Good job by the team, and especially Felipe for his first quali session after the accident!

I don't think I can say surprised, i think nando and felipe might just be that really close to each other's pace. ferrari is treating both equally, the 2 of them have the same method of working hard with the team, they are comitted to making the car better.

Nando pointed out, it's a long track (i prefer it that way, longer tracks like spa) with so many cars on the grid, but when it's longer it means there are more opportunities to not getting every single corner right, or going wide here or there, i think that's just what came down to between felipe and fernando, nando was getting it better in the begining and then felipe pulled a better one.

i wonder if tomorrow ferrari will want to be more calm about it, seeing that they want to have a solid start, instead of not finishing the race or finishing without points.

but then now the first position just has so much more points awarded... this i think is the best change for this year, this will really get the top of the grid thinking twice about settling for second.

oh man! this is really good!

after the nightmares of 09, i was afraid of us not fighting for the top of the podium in the begining of the season... i was wondering if we would still be catching up a little, i thought we were going to be where mercedes is and they would be where we are.

I think our winter work was fantastic. we certainly did catch the top runner (redbull)

Did anyone else find the coverage of quali a little more to be desired for? How many times were they following someone when others were going much quicker. Was it me or did we barely see any Ferrari in Q1 and Q2?

I was more concerned that we didnt have the graphic down the left hand side showing the positions. Made it very hard to keep track of where everyone was.

@ Jonny Yeah, it was a bit weird for me too and noticed the same thing you did
@ Mrs Alonso That really annoyed me, they should have shown that more often and not keep us like that until the end

Yeah me too, I was waiting for it for awhile before realising it wasn't coming. Hopefully they will reintroduce it. Is it my eyesight or were some of the graphics hard to read?

exactly! how dumb was that decision to take that graphic off the screen? that was everything, cause we would have track of where everyone is at all times, now its more like guessing or working with a pencil, that's stupid. should make it easier.

PS your avatar looks alot better in red Mrs Alonso! finally huh?

I agree. They didn't showed anything of Alonso's last lap, for example. I want to know what's happened when Fernando catched Sutil, because in the 2nd sector he lost 3 tenths.

Btw, I'm expecting a win for tomorrow. Maybe an 1-2. I'm happy to see we have a car that can fight for the championship, and the bests drivers so far. ^^

Big chance... Our little piece of red hardware will take better care of the tires than the Red Bulls... we have the best overall package I reckon, (we have to thank God they are powered by Renault's engine though).

I'm kinda wondering about the q laps themselves, because they barely showed us them, and that track was very busy at all times, i wonder how many drivers got held up a little because of that. i know this always happens, but sometimes it's just too much, and the tv coverrage for this session was a real let down. it's almost like they didn't want to show the ferraris, i don't understand why, i know there are many teams, but you would think that they would keep extra attention to the "big 4" but they completely left our drivers out.

Well Vettel was a surprise. Really pleased that Felipe beat Alonso but they look to be very close to each other. Michael was kind of where I expected him to be. and yes I'm annoyed that they wern#t showing the places down the side of the screen. Made it very difficult to follow. Also don't like the tyre rule for Q3 - what is the point of that?

Looking forward to the race tomorrow

And Red Bull's tyre wear seemed to be bad so it may be Advantage Ferrari...

Look out for Lewis the donkey in Turn 1! He might pose danger to the ones in front of him (by taking them out, rather than overtaking them of course)

I don't know! i can't help myself, i miss the mess in F1, specially the messes where we end up winning.

How great would it be if tomorrow our boys just went crazy for the first corner and both took vettel's position? you gotta realise that if any track out there, bahrein is the place to go crazy, most places you have to avoid cars and getting off the track, not there, the whole place this year is a big run off area, plenty of spaces to turn this into a star wars podrace!

To Be honest I was not so surprised about Vettel. He showed all last year that He can do some magic. ( Ferrari might be wise to get an option soon, or should have done already )

Massa also pulled out a great lap, And it is well deserved. Happy to finally hear the happy Brazilian. He's always optimistic and happy.
Well done Felipe lets hope we get a clean race tomorrow.

Fantastic quali. I am extremely pleased with the way we look so far. Also what happened to the extra 5 mph the mccheaters were supposed to have on the straights? Did anyone see the trap speeds at any time in qualifying? Are they just that much slower on the slow parts?

Well, it is more than likely that the Ferraris will overtake the Red Bull when the red lights go out. With the cars full of fuel, the most powerful engine has the advantage starting from zero me thinks... the only 'tiny' problem for Massa is that he is starting from the 'dirty' side of the grid and maybe his rear tyres won't bite as hard as those starting from the clean side...

See what happens tomorrow, I can't wait.

PS. i hope Ham loses a few Ps... bad start For Lulu please.

It might be just that we and redbull have an edge on them for this track, and it might shift when we go to albert park, but the top 3 were very close, then hamilton was about 6 tenths behind alonso (whom i suspect had a little bit of problem/hold up during sector 2) and button well behind, so however clever their new "holes" ideas are, there might be lacking up on other areas.

I think ferrari and redbull are it for now, but i think overall package we can be in better shape than redbull, cause i think our car is a little more kind on the tyres, and this will play a huge factor tomorrow.

Firstly, great job by our team. 2 and 3 should give us a good chance for victory. I wont say i wasnt surprised that felipe pipped nando. Didnt even get to see Nandos lap. Was he held up or did he make a mistake? He was quicker than felipe all weekend so it felt a bit odd that he was 4 tenths off. Anyways, it still could be 2 podiums.

Thinking of the start though, i would expect felipe to be more concerned about Lewis than nando. Reason being, he starts on the dirtier side of the track. I expect nando to get a jump on felipe at turn 1, he and vettel are on the clean side of the track, and that will leave felipe fighting with lewis, which in my opinion is a very dangerous proposition. The Mccheaters are obviously off the pace and lewis might just play dirty.. his ego pulling up i would guess...
Should lewis get ahead of either nando or felipe, it shouldnt be too much to worry about. Our race pace is better than lewis'. However, he might take one of them out. And thats scary.

Look out for a fast starting rosberg too. Schumi might even jump a couple of positions at the start. Button i reckon will go backward. Dunno what happened to him, just faded off after Q1.

Anyways... i think it will be a great race. Forza Ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, and everyone seems to have forgotten that Massa is really damn good here.

That was last season. Now they do Q3 on very low fuel and then start the race with a full tank of fuel, all because of the refuelling ban.
