Remember the cars of the 80s my all time fav Ferrari 126c turbo and the Beautifull REAL !!! LOTUS with the JPS colours (lotus 91).
Am hoping if all true they will this time allow twin chassis if only allowed back then for the Master and Lord to develope it (LOTUS 88) realy have never forgiven Ferrari and Renault for getting it banned.

Oh if this all happens then all Ferrari need to do is 2 things Upgrade the Ferrari 126c and Make an EXTREME effort to Employ the Service of 1 Gordan Murray as he is THE BEST in the Business now that sadly Colin CHAPMAN is no longer with us.
    BRING BACK THE 80s !!!!!
I don't think anyone is complaining about turbo and ground effect. I'm excited for those as well

But we have a problem with the insane eco-friendly green engine agenda they are trying to push
1.6liter, 4 cylinder, and the final nail in the coffin, 650bhp limit. All in the name of making F1 eco-friendly, that is going to sacrifice one huge chunk of performance, the cars will be slow and miserable to watch

Norbert Haug said: with the power output we have you can't make F1 cars go green. Because those things have too much HP and this makes the engines very very thirsty. It's better to start an other championship where the goal is to make environmental friendly and ultra save cars.

F1 going green means nothing for the sake of global warming, changing 24 cars out of how many in the world?

why not make F1 real F1 and also make another racing class called: F1bluemotion or F1 efficient dynamics or F1e or eF1

1.6 four cylinder turbo! Better than none at all. Does this mean they will use a Fiat Punto engine??

What are the sounds of these turbo engines going to be like? The GP3 cars have turbo engines and they have really dull sounds. I hope F1 cars will still have the glorious racing car sounds, I won't allow them to spoil one of the best sounds in the world. Of course F1 must be heading towards green technology, but I hope they won't go too far.

Agreed, sound is an important element of F1. The V8s are nice, but the V10s were even better. Probably the V12s sounded even beter but I've never heard them

I have to Agree with Haug on this one.

Turbos sounded pretty wicked in the 1980's...

    Engine was bigger, though

More details emerge about F1's new shape for 2013 E-mail

Sep.7 (GMM) More details about the shape of radical new regulations for 2013 have continued to emerge.

Earlier, it was reported that most teams have essentially agreed that the field will in future be powered by 1.6 litre, 4 cylinder turbo engines, with the cars featuring 80s-style 'ground effect' aerodynamics.

Monday's reports also said drivers will be limited to using just five of the 650 horse power engines in 2013.

The online magazine GPWeek has now revealed some additional details of the new formula.

The publication said the turbo engines will run at about 10,000rpm, and feature an efficient limit on the fuel flow -- culminating in a 'green' formula that some insiders believe might entice manufacturers back onto the grid.

KERS will also play an increasing role in F1's future regulations, with additional heat-recovery technology to likely augment the existing hybrid systems.

Additionally, the cars' sidepods will be moved forwards to increase driver protection, and the size of the wheel rims is expected to increase in future years.

The basis of the 2013 rules are likely to be outlined in more detail after a forthcoming meeting of the World Motor Sport Council.

10,000rpm? a vtec can rev more than that. The news for F1 in 2013 is beginning to sounding pretty lame. I agree with what was said before about separating F1 from eco-ism.

10k rpm and 4 cylinder. Its going to be like watching golf.

All these going green is really annoying me. They already have electrical and hybrid cars, which is doing more than anything F1 can do in promoting green-ness. Why don't those idiots just leave F1 alone the way it should be, an auto sport.

Lets hope LDM does take over F1 and we can get back to some sensible gas-guzzling, ear shattering, sexy rockets-on-wheels with unlimited engines, testing and revs. There's plenty of room for the implementation of eco-based competitions elsewhere.
Remember, true innovation comes from freeing inventors from boundaries. Give the engineers blank pages and let them create. When you do this, sometimes you get surprising results.
And, if you need some justification for this approach think about this - NASA's unbridled space exploration has given is medical breakthroughs such as "cool" laser procedures and breast cancer detection. Computer science has given us medical breakthroughs such as bionic ears and eyes. Imagine if the NASA engineers were told they had to use logarithm books and pencils or if our computer scientist were told they had to stick with using valves.

Ferrari not happy with 2013 engine formula
    Wednesday 8 September at 10:01 : Sep.8 (GMM)

Ferrari is not happy with F1's reported plans for a four-cylinder, 1.6 litre turbocharged engine formula for the 2013 season and beyond.

It emerged this week that the broad outline of the sport's future rules has been essentially decided and agreed by the majority of the teams.

According to Italy's Autosprint, the famous Ferrari outfit is not among them.

Instead, the report said the Maranello based team wants formula one to revert to a 1.8 litre V6 engine design, which would be much easier to adapt from the current 2.4 litre V8s.

Ferrari's engine boss Luca Marmorini reportedly insists there is not enough time to design a completely new engine for 2013 "with the necessary reliability to have only four units (per driver), as they would like", he said.

Marmorini also argues that a 4-cylinder design would require a complete overhaul of the chassis designs.

Amid Ferrari's staunch opposition last year to the proposed budget cap rules, the team threatened to quit formula one.

In a new interview with Corriere dello Sport, team boss Stefan Domenicali said anyone who thinks F1 would be the same without Ferrari "is wrong".

He warned that, "depending on how the rules are configured", Ferrari is open to seeking new challenges in "Le Mans or the major American championships

10,000rpm? I mean for God's sake! Ferrari's road cars rev nearly that high!!! Looks like in a year or two, Ferrari's road cars will not only have bigger displacement, but will also rev higher than F1 engines and will produce more power! Argh!

I remember well the turbo era...it was ok until they started imposing fuel limits....Ferrari suffered there, then it became so boring I couldnt wait till 89 when
nat asptd engined came back..I loved the 12, the 10's..the v8 is ok, but I prefer non turbo racing for F1...Something needs done w/aero regs though...
