Ferrari set to write off season after Monza

Ferrari will write off the 2010 season if the team does not secure a good result at Monza.

That is the announcement of the famous Italian marque's F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, referring to Fernando Alonso's
41 point gap to the championship leader with just six races left to run.

"Should Monza go really badly and Red Bull's lead continues to increase, then on Monday we will begin to use all of our staff and resources for the project of next season's car," he is quoted by the sports daily Corriere dello Sport.

F1 experts and pundits, including Bernie Ecclestone and Niki Lauda, have recently played down expectations that Alonso will be able to emulate the role formerly played at Ferrari by Michael Schumacher.

Domenicali disagrees: "Alonso reminds me very much of Schumacher.

"Since I've been with Ferrari, I have not seen a driver who has as strong a presence in Maranello, and follows all of our activities with the same conviction" as the Spaniard, he added.

It’s really hard news to swallow, but to be honest, if we come out with really crappy results after Monza, we would be better off concentrating on next year’s car given that Red bull and McCheaters will fight tooth an nail ‘till the end of season.

So we will actually have 2 months head start on the next year’s contender.

Hopefully we’ll have a better car out of the box next year and don’t have a repeat of 2010; although the F10 hasn’t been that bad at the beginning, but the Red Bulls walked ALL OVER us this year from the get go.

I really hope our engineers will come up with some OVER the edge innovations and really push the limits of the RULES for next year....(just like Newey did with Red Bull this year) and come out with a really fast and un-beatable car next year...Then again we’re ALWAYS HOPING THAT...
.....i have a feeling that FERRARI F2012 will be a winner starting from Melbourne....and Alonso will finally get his hands on a championship winning car and clinch his third WDC!!!

Its a Shame and sucks to be in this position after all having the most resources and the highest budget amongst all the F1 teams on the grid. Something is not right! We need changes inside the team, management and technical team. Stefano really sucks!!!! He s not a good leader at all. He just dont have it, maybe he s too nice of a guy.

Is the right thing to do, if Alonso can't win, the chances are almost 0 to win the WDC.

Makes sense, but it's always cutting to hear. I'm still hopeful of a good result.

They should have done this 3 races ago.

Well maybe it is a good idea so we can understand the new rules for 2011

i don't expect Mcmowers or RedBullS*** to have an advatage next year as they will be still fighting it out and it's basically a new sheet of paper next year as NO Fduct Or DD e.c.t

Exactly. Better to get a jump on 2011, at this point. Alonso could still win the WDC, but the odds are not in our favor. Full speed ahead for 2011.
I hope the new car is beautiful.

Last year we stopped developing the 2009 car before Spa and we won in the Ardennes..So stop developing this week, win at Monza and reconsider next week Monday at Maranello!!

Come on boys..Keep on fighting and try to win a couple of races still this year..!!

We began developing this year’s early and still have the same problem. Yet Red Bull fought and developed their car till the end of the season because they were fighting Mercedes for the championships. Yet they can field a race winner again this year.
I hate to be negative and believe it's never over till it's mathematically impossible. We must be lacking in the design/development area

Yap... And we were infront at the start of 2010 but fell behind like a communist.

Ferrari just can't develop as fast as the McLarens.

Sad news but understandable. I guess they didn't want to stop development before Monza. They have already started on the 2011 car some two months ago.

Yes, the car was failure this year because it didn't work well for Felipe style. Hopefully on next year things are better.

I hardly doubt if that was the criteria of designing these cars. They are built with a fairly neutral setup and all winter the drivers tend to make their own changes to the setup. The F10 is not a failure. the developments have not come at the right pace making it more obsolete. F60 was sacrificed for this car and we had all the extra time to come up with innovations like teh Fduct and exhaust blow diffuser..we simply did not add the performance enhancing devices much earlier in the season and we lost out. Renault brought thir F duct at Spa and it worked perfectly accorrding their tests in the wind tunnel. We needed to have been more aggressive in the earlier part of the season

The softer the tires were, the better they fitted in the hands of Felipe. This year's tires were way too hard. I wonder why they were designed so hard.... Felipe had no problem with the super soft tires. They should have had for this year "Extreme soft tires".

He might do even better next year now that Perelli is coming in

are u saying the basis for our cars' success in terms of performance is if it suits felipe's driving style? so who's style is the red bull car based on?

There is still races left for this year and I really hope that we don't lose the championship to decisions which have been made at pit...
I really do hope that... Everything can still change in the forthcoming races.

Hopefully Pirelli tires are enough soft. Does somebody know does Heidfeld like soft tires?

I don't like to compare Red Bull car to our car, but imho Red Bull fits more in the Vettel's hands but he tends to ruin his own chances with own really bad driving mistakes.
