Smile Ferrari - No further punishment!!!

Fernando Alonso and Ferrari have escaped further punishment for using team orders during the German Grand Prix.

The $100,000 fine which was imposed by Hockenheim stewards after the team were found guilty of using a coded message to inform Felipe Massa to allow Alonso through for the victory has been upheld though.

The World Motor Sport Council has also confirmed the so-called team-orders rule will be reviewed.

Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of Italy's CAI Motorsport Federation, told reporters in Paris that the WMSC agreed unanimously not to impose a further punishment.

I'm very curious to see how Macca will code their team orders from now on. Maybe something like 'the cow flies over the moon'.

    thumb down:

The FiA sold out their own people (the stewards) present at Hockenheim. The FiA new policy = backstabbing.

A rule was broken, a fine was handed out and then the ones doing it were ridiculed today even though it's written black on white.

    Cool...

A rule that is a stupidity, as it can be (and is) circumvented all the time. Why should Ferrari be the only ones to pay?

McLaren used that exact same line 2 years ago when Kovaleinen let Hamilton past.... why do you think Smedley used the same line.... although the I'm sorry part was completely stupid on his part, he should be disciplined internally (just make sure Mosley is not involved)....

Everything was "implied" by everyone in the world anyway....I tend to believe that when Rob apologized to Massa, that he was apologizing for the fact that his car
simply was not quick enough....end of story.....Lets win Monza....and I think it would be swell if Massa did it!!

I don't know really. It's a stupid rule. Maybe because it's a rule in the FiA sporting regulations. Ignoring it in the past because it was less obvious doesn't make it right. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Why has it been in there for 8 years and only now are they talking about removing it?

I'm just wondering what they are telling the Hockenheim stewards today.

It s been there cos that Mosley insisted on having team orders banned in 02 and now that he s gone his stupid rule can now go too...

Interesting to note the team order rule will only be reviewed after the season.......think our team got themselves sorted now but will be interesting to see how McLatas and the Bulls cope with this now......or do they just pay USD 100.000 in advance and tell the stewards they are gonna do it?

Stewards at Hockenheim, that had to make a call, included or excluded?
