Why has it been in there for 8 years and only now are they talking about removing it?

I'm just wondering what they are telling the Hockenheim stewards today.
They're probably telling them that they made a fuss over nothing.

So the next time when a disputable situation occurs the stewards should disregard the sporting regulations?

Great news! This case was blown way out of proportion, mainly by the British press and fans.

Can someone explain to me why Ferrari got a larger fine after Austria 2002 when they used team orders which were not banned at the time?

I think Ferrari owe Felipe big time. Nevermind he almost got killed for them last year but the fact that he took the responsibility for letting Fernando past when it was quite clearly an order from the team.

Hopefully good karma will come his way very soon

If team orders become legal, all the drivers ,Senna Di Grassi and the rest of the guys in the back with new teams etc. will have a good shot at moving up into the contenders circle. I believe any driver who is a in the top will not want to do a Rubens just to be with a top team, and know they have to let the #1 driver pass . It could change everything as far as driver lineups for the future.

Well the rule might be changed post season...Since team orders now are only 100,000 $ fine, who knows if Mclaren RBR could use it to their advantage of winning a WC..

The fine was not for issuing team orders in 2002. The fine was to interfere in the podium presentation ceremony

Isn't it what they've been doing all year? Many years now on several occasions?

    Cool...
    How? The fine was upheld.

Race Director and stewards from Hockenheim are the biggest of the morons, quite frankly, they made another F1 fiasco when it was entirely unnecessary!

Big moral boost for the whole team, now without that monkey on their back or that splinter in their head or whatever...

Wow, a few other forums (I will no say their names) are now plenty of very angry members (Germany-08 was totally different of Germany-10, FIA is a joke, I will not watch F1 anymore , blah, blah, blah ...)
Please remember that I'm not a Ferrari fan. I always try to be as neutral as possible. Sometimes this will please you, sometimes won't.

    Oh stop it already.
They didnt put a gun to his head and say DRIVE B******. For all the drivers in F1 this comes with the territory.

Its a fantastic decision by the WMSC. Big relief i must say. I wonder if slotting the hearing just before Monza had anything to do with it. but am not complaining. This is good. And i really hope they do away with that stupid rule. People who want to keep it can keep it (like KERS) ... so the Macs and RB can do wat they want... put their drivers in a boxing ring for all i care..
Now we can concentrate on getting those 1-2's.

Heres to a great Monza weekend. Ferrari must rule!!! cheers!!!!!

lol.. yeah. This should be fun. I would like to see how button is going to argue his case against golden child of the sun lewis. And i mark webbers goose is officially cooked now. This is his only chance of a title.. next season he is going to be cleaning the doormat for seb vettels car.

I would pay to see the expression on the idiots' face (Lawrence, Jordan, Lauda, etc) who wanted the FIA to throw the book at Ferrari.

BTW the PlanetF1 jerks also rejected my application to their forums. I think maybe choosing the username "SFTifoso" didn't help matters.

No way. As a McLaren fan, you can chose nicks like 'Hamiltonfanatic' and you will be welcomed with open arms, but don't chose anything related to Ferrari (or, even worse, Alonso) in a positive way. They won't let you in.

As swell as it would be its not going to happen by chance - you understand Massa is not allowed to win unless Alonso is out of the race?

Smedley were caught with his pants down, and he was extremely lucky to get away with it! Ferrari used blatant team orders and got a slap on the wrist, no point in denying that.

Excellent news, but there is no reason to deny what really happened!

Yes. Would very much like to understand this I bet nobody can give a good reason for it.

Thanks Greig. I was not aware of that. Do you think the "original explanation" for the fine is still online somewhere?
