On the video you can see where the guard rail went through the floor of the car on the drivers side, that is very nasty...

Oh this sucks I hope he will be 100% OK, fingers X.

And the media are screwed up these days really, I read that his arm was already amputated... how can they write something like that without any reason

A lot of press reports are just the reprinting of incorrect rumours - probably mostly without intent to mislead or capitalise but it just makes people more inclined to believe it as they see multiple sources. What hacks me off is sites like Planet F1 that use the opportunity to post about his replacement. Opportunist ghouls who dont care about anything except themselves. Now that's sick!

Best wishes to him... first of all I hope he doesn't have any after-effect and then I really hope to see him racing again as soon as possible as he is a great driver and I hoped him to drive for us someday...

Horrible news. Best of luck to him.

Lotus Renault GP has issued the following statement on Robert Kubica’s condition:

“After undergoing extensive medical checks this morning, Robert Kubica has been diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand. He is currently undergoing surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure.

“Robert suffered a high-speed accident this morning while competing in the Ronde di Andora Rally.

“Daniel Morelli, Robert’s manager, will be available for the press in front of the hospital emergency entrance at 16h30 CET.”

Most importantly, I hope his condition is not life threatening

And I hope none of his arms would need to be amputated. That's some seriously sick and twisted rumor

this is what i read from autosport forum
From tg sky news Italy, direct from the hospital
no fear for his life, no internal hemorragy, hand not to be amputated, trying to restore functions of the hand, surgery only in first phase, will end at approximately 20 CET, only after that the medical staff wille give official information in a press confernce

Terrible news, hopefully he is ok and makes a speedy recovery. The pictures look serious, clearly his leavel of consciousness is decreased and he is intubated although there could be lots of reasons for that so there's not much point speculating. Just hope he's going to be ok!

I know it's not really important right now but surely Renault won't have a Petrov/Senna lineup? Almost would make it pointless to go racing.

this news has been devistating for all of us F1 fans; HOPE HE'LL HAVE A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND WISH HIM ALL THE BEST.
he's such an amazing driver and was looking forward to see him drive the new renault to its limits again this season.

but like you said, renault now starting the season with two so called newbies in the team, is going to be hard for them....
any chance they could get Kimi in there??? not that he'll come anyways since he's probably enjoying rallying too much nowadays
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

@adamcooperf1 #F1 Quote from Robert's manager Daniele Morelli: "The surgeons are trying to restore the functionality of his right hand."
@adamcooperf1 #F1 Morelli adds they "...must now think about the muscle function, but Robert has a very strong temper and will succeed."
I really don't get a good feeling about that injured hand, but I have no doubt he will have the best doctors in the world, helping him through his recuperation, and the best specialists. Kubica is hard as nails, he will do everything to come back I'm sure.
    Forza Jules

Latest news apparently is that his life isn't in danger but surgeons are trying to restore function to his right hand, I guess that's good news but devestating for him if it threatens his career.

If I was Renault I would be trying to get Hulkenberg, Heidfeld, Liuzzi, Klien or PDLR - someone with a bit of ability! They have a million reserve drivers...but they are all rubbish.

News is not looking good at all, it's pretty much confirmed that his hand was crushed, just hope it's not as bad as they make it sound...this is really sad man

I think this (thread) is not the right place to speculate about who's replacing Robert.

Nor the right moment as surgery is still in progress.
