I think Ferrari should just focus on donwforce. The RB6 was a downforce machine in 2010, and it took them a whole year to become good in all types of tracks. But if there is one team that can do it is Ferrari.

That vid is all speculation..makes for great talk, but really, Ferrari nor any other team is going
to show their 2012 cars b4 testing, and even then they will be only showing what they have to.

    We already know. Monza 2008. Fuji 2007 (until he hit Webber!). 3 5th places in 2008, one fourth in Brazil. Meanwhile his teammate was finishing - ret, 13, 17, 11, 12, 18, 10, 7, 18, 12, 10, 13, 14.

Not taking anything away from Vettel but Bourdais was terrible. It would be nice to see him in an F150-esque car that he has to fight to control all the time, and with four much faster cars up the road. Then let's see how many podiums he can score. I doubt it would be ten, but hopefully we'll find out in 2012.

There is no doubt that what Alonso did with F150, Vettel can't do better or even equal it. But I really think he has the ability to do well in a mediocre car. It was seen right from his first race when Vettel substituted for Kubica at the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Vettel was pulled mid-season from the Formula Renault series, which he was leading at that time. He started in seventh position on the grid, finishing in eighth position to take his first World Championship point and became the youngest driver ever to score a point in Formula One (at the age of 19 years and 349 days). I am sure that’s not easy for a boy at his age to jump into a F1 car mid season & do decent job. 2007-08 I think he did extremely well with the equipment at his disposal (Bourdais, Alguersuari, Buemi, Luizzi were not even close in STR). 2009 he finished second in Championship only because of his poor start to the season, from which he learned & hit the jackpot in 2010 & 2011 (I know he had the best car on the grid then).

I really think he won't be handful with an average car, he is a real racer. Though I hope RB8 turns out to be crap & we get to see what material he is made of.

    @ Cathay Pacific,

Well from what I hear, the 2012' Ferrari Formula One race car will be "RED" with some "White" bits, but mostly Red. I am sure the Santander Logo will be quite large. Most likely, white interior portion of the rear Wing, white bits on the front wing as well.

    Ciao.

Thanks, except that you seem to treat people like they are somewhat retarded. What i meant was whether there'll be slight changes from this years'.

Good news, obviously taken with a grain of salt but it's just nice to hear, also sounds like we can head into 2012 the proper way and their will be no fundamental issues with the car stopping us from challenging right at the top. Now we wait to see the underlining pace of the car with the hope it's strong enough.

"Alonso proved in the simulator modifications Pat Fry has done to improve the balance of the car in 2012"
"Alonso says he will be here in Maranello today through next Monday"
"Apparently one of the problems of lack of balance, we discussed some time ago, was in the 'aggressive' front"

Ferrari says its new F1 car will be ready for first test in February

Ferrari says it will unveil its 2012 challenger in early February and that it will be ready for the first test of the winter.

"The new Ferrari F1 car will be presented in early February, in time to take part in the first test session ahead of the season," Ferrari media chief Luca Colajanni told Autosprint.

He said the new car will be significantly different from this year's machine, as the Maranello-based squad aims to return to winning ways following a difficult 2011 season.

"At the moment it's not important to say whether the new project is going to be extreme," he added.

"For sure, it will be a clean break with the past, a very different program, because it aims to win and it marks a change of mentality by the entire team."

The first test of 2012 will take place at the Jerez circuit on February 7-9.

Let's be honest, the RB6 was good at all tracks in 2010, with the only exception being Monza. The car that generates the most downforce (without compromising top speed too much) will be the strongest pretty much everywhere.

Should be easier to reshape the sidepods (make them lower and slimmer) because we don't need those big exhaust pipes going all the way to the diffuser. There's definite performance gains from that area - remember the F2002 was so successful because of the low and slim sidepods.

    @ Cathay Pacific,

I did not mean to offend you. I think the Aero changes to next years race car will be large and the overall shape will be tweaked quite a bit. Lower nose, reshaped sidepods, rear wing and diffuser, much revised front wing, drasticly different undertray configuration, Rear Suspension changes, etc. so we will see a totally different race car from what was raced the last few years. The speed will come from the basic design, chassis geometry and the advancement of the Aero Refinement. Ferrari has the same tools and the greatest designer in Rory Byrne + all of the personnel changes made to the team last year will make them very strong and should not be lacking for anything.

    Ciao.

Haha awesome. To confirm that, here's an artlcle from onnicorse.

Jonathan Heal is the latest arrival at McFerrari!
English is the engineer called computed by Pat Fry at Maranello: there is now a colony of McLaren technical

Next another. Pat Fry fish in abundance among the engineers of the McLaren. The newest arrival in Maranello regards Jonathan Heal , an expert in the Woking team's calculations. It is yet another specialist who arrives from the Prancing Horse team led by Martin Whitmarsh. Married with three young children, Heal graduated as an aeronautical engineer at Imperial College, before joining Airbus Gb. McLaren came in 2005 and has been proven for its expertise in composite chassis and suspension of the MP4-26. Technocentre after Jonathan left the resignation is said to be in conflict with Luke who was recruited by Furbatto these days to Faenza. The Italian coach has wanted to get away when he realized that Paddy Lowe, McLaren technical director, he would not promoted to chief designer of the new car in Woking, mortifying his professional ambitions. The Red Bull headed by Giorgio Ascanelli to offer this opportunities, which has done well to change Furbatto air. A move that must have surprised Heal, to which the role of deputy in the department calculations began to be tight. The two must have gained the same decisions about the same time. Jonathan Heal enjoys the confidence of Pat Fry, who knows him very well and eventually succumbed to the wooing of English at Shepperton in the first person that is handling the strengthening of technical racing department. The colony of the men arrived at Maranello from Woking through other work experience begins to be nourished and, in a sense, worrying. Pat Fry, in fact, are creating, especially in the second rows of the technical ranks of the Prancing Horse, a sort of McFerrari. The last time was in order of Lawrence Hodge at Interlagos, which had been tied by former colleagues in the barriers and painting. .. red. The track is added to the Indian aero Darek Rupert and James Tortora , an Italian who returned to racing department after the parenthesis in Woking, finding even the greek Ioannis Veloudis that the court of Pat's no more time. And then you can not forget Neil Martin , strategist specialist procedures, which is joined Ferrari on Red Bull Racing: he is a man who obviously has roots in a McLaren. It is legitimate that Pat Fry wants to strengthen its leading position Technical calling in Maranello only the faces of his confidence, but this dependence should reflect Technocentre Stefano Domenicali, team principal of the Prancing Horse President Luca di Montezemolo and. We are sure that it is a test of strength to be able to take away human resources only by McLaren ? If Ferrari needs fresh ideas was no better fish from different realities, which converge to the GES, bringing experience from the most varied of the Circus? If, however, the idea is to equip the racing department of the organization of work in use in Woking, well then we would have the admission of management failure. It seems fair to say that Whitmarsh is not the team to have won the last two world championships (the last world title was in 2008, just a year before the Ferrari with Kimi Raikkonen). Yet Fernando Alonso , commenting on the 2011 season, cold , has congratulated the growth of the Red team, only lamenting the lack of a competitive single-seater from the beginning to the end of the season, a sign that the structure of the Horse seems to have regained his strength. We hope that the car far enough promise for the 2012 to see the Spaniard Sebastian Vettel challenge, because there will be time for another year of transition ...

    lol, espwecially after this article

    http://motorsport.nextgen-auto.com/F...ity,34573.html

    seems McLaren prefer Ferraris approach.

and to have the car being released later than usual gives them a little more development time. i remember the car coming a little late in the dream team years aswell
