Thanks guys for all the latest news and updates... (and highlighting the important parts of a long article )

Hopefully we can get back our top speed by Monza. If there's one track Ferrari MUST win, its Monza.

    Nikolas Tombazis:
"However, we kept working on the exhausts to develop a more robust and simple system, but it still related to the original one and that is what we introduced in Canada."
Is this mean that our latest exhaust is simple or Spain exhaust was?

Always a nice read a few days before a race!
Yes it is. Very open and encouraging piece. Thanks for that.

Hornet @ 2311: "Hopefully we can get back our top speed by Monza. If there's one track Ferrari MUST win, its Monza". Oh yes. And the Tombazis piece is beginning to make me feel we may well do so

Jun.20 (GMM) Even Ferrari's huge resources are being tested in 2012, as the famous Italian team reportedly works on three different cars simultaneously.

That is the claim of the Spanish sports daily Marca, amid news the once-struggling F2012 car will enjoy yet another significant upgrade for the streets of Valencia this weekend.

The report said Ferrari will use a new front wing and floor at the European grand prix, whilst also rolling out upgrades to the rear wing and exhausts.

"It's been intense over the past few months resulting in a big improvement in car performance," said chief designer Nikolas Tombazis.

"We have worked with determination to deal with all the negative points we picked up right from the first test in the winter."

At the same time, Marca reported, Ferrari has started work not only on an evolutionary project for 2013, but on the "fundamentals" of a radically-different chassis to complement the new V6 engine in 2014.

"The 2013 model is an evolution and the improvements we put into this (current) car will be useful for next year, but there is a small group of people working on fundamentals and mechanical components that are a step up from this year," said Tombazis.

As for 2014, "We have a lot of people working on the new engine already and another small group looking at other features of the car, which is going to be completely new", he also revealed.

Al teams have got too start work on the 2014 engine as it is smaller and the drive-trains aswell. B e next year when work fully gets under way on 2012 project.

A little less work for the teams that buy their engines as customers. Of course if customer cars are approved then the game changes again.

We can expect a hot race. So additional cooling may be needed. Let's wait for more pictures. The exhaust channels seem to be different too.

I expect them to experiment with the setup of the car more than in previous free practises as the upgrades are probably not so substantial.

Some sofisticated changes are vera easy visible, it seems exhaust is pointing even more outwards (directly on tires?)

More like Jerez, and less like McLaren now. Nikolai Tombazis did say a refinement of that part was coming along with floor and wings, so let's see.

It looks as if the exhaust is being directed more at the rear tyres now.. What I was thinking was that if that extra slot on the side of the exhaust faces the tyres we can leave that open for qualifying and then adjust some screws which essentially closes the cover for the race so we don't wear them out too much.. is that illegal?

No, Massa was running the old mirrors wheras Alonso was running the new ones which are integrated into the first winglet, a nice refinement if I do say so.

although they still look very big and troublesome, what is left of those acer ducts is starting to look useful.
i hope they can show us why they wanted them so badly by the end of the year

    Thanks Wacc, great pictures.

I'm no aero dynamicist but I'm wondering why, with the current stream of developments, Ferrari have chosen to go so against the grain the nose hump that must aggressively detach the air flow. Anyone got any ideas?

I don't know, what you have exactly on your mind. If you mean the shape of the nose on majority of the cars this year, than try to read this article:
