Now Ferrari has paraffin in the diffuser, surely the new version

    Paraffin?
    It's the green aero paint.

i thought paraffin is the stuff skiers use on their skis to slide faster
so in our case if we use it, it would be for much faster air flow
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Is the center gurney above the diffuser, which is extended higher, a new part today?

No, they've had that since day 1.

Yes, but "paraffin" is a Google Translate error, like the now-famous "moron suspensions".

Maybe. But I honestly think that spending 2008 and 2009 battling with the Renault made Alonso a better driver, and Ferrari can now extract full value of that.

One never knows... Also, Ferrari won WCC and Massa was tantalisingly close to winning WDC in 2008; credit where it is due, Massa and Raikkonen did very well, and only lady Luck was not up to the required standards.

Is there a chance of using the same car this year or not?

They'd have to lower the nose and move the exhaust exits. Which is fairly easy to do, but they were complaining about the distance between the front and back wheels being too small (car too short).

Is there a place to check basic telemetry, sector speeds, times etc?
    Thanks

I've read through the last couple of pages to see what's going on here and I must conclude that I see quite a lot of pessimism down here. And all this after just the first two days of "winter testing", "WINTER". C'mon !

Right now we need to have all the correct data, to understand the car's behaviour, to see what areas are weaker and what we can rely on and improve during the season. More than that, I think the car was loaded with lots of fuel these days.

Yes, there are weak sides. Yes the car behaves a little twitchy in the corners and it had some small mechanical failures, but this is a matter of a short time to solve.

We've been promised wins starting from Melbourne, and not fastest laps in Jerez. But I'm sure that now they're checking the car and come Barcelona with its aerodynamic challenging corners, we'll see improvements from the car.

    Stay positive !

    Forza Ferrari e AVANTI !

Can you please remind me what happened?

I do remember Todt saying before signing Kimi, that as long as he's at Ferrari, Alonso will never face for them.

13:45 The Ferrari driver has to back out of it completely.

13:45 High dose of oversteer for Alonso as he tries to follow Grosjean through Turn 3.

Not detailed with sector times, but does the basic job.

Alonso was looking for a drive in 2002 after his debut season with Minardi in the previous year. I think Todt thought that he had an agreement with Alonso to be the test driver, but Alonso backed out and chose to go to Renault instead.

That last bit is strange. Normally you get understeer when you follow another car in the corner, as you lose front end grip.

They obviously are experimenting with things cos in last 3 days they had oversteer, understeer, leftsteer, rightsteer.... :)

Hopefully they’ll get RID of all this STEER problems, oversteer, understeer and get bet to normal STEER
I just want Alonso to do a flyer and do HALF a second or EVEN a second faster than anybody and see everyone’s JAWS drop to the floor…that would be super nice, but of course Ferrari/Alonso won’t show their hand JUST yet

Maybe we’ll see some of that at the last day of the last test, and even then is questionable..
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Laps completed by the Spaniard are just 46, most of them at constant speed and with the car full of sensors..

They are just trying to get data on different set ups I believe thus the oversteer/ understeer issues .. Ferrari are not leaving any stone unturned this season..

No telemetry but it does show individual lap times

P.S. Click on the drivers name
