The F2012's rear is not as tight as that pic suggests. When looking from above it will have a more rounded profile.

it may not look as tight due to the exhausts we have, but dont' forget that there is a HUGE undercut below the exhausts which makes teh rear end really tight

we may even show up at BCN with a total different exhaust
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

It is tight but the packaging is not what that pic suggests. If you remove the exhaust cowling the sidepod shape would be more curved than what that pic suggests.

Go through some of the launch photos and you will see what I mean.

I think there is no much room in the regulation for the exhaust position.
But Francois Caubet talked about a clever solution developed together with red bull, maybe in the eingine-mapping area.

The latest rules take the Exhaust to far away from the Rear Wing, Diffuser, Aero Planes of the Rear Suspension, Etc. I think the only place the Exhaust could benefit the race car is to direct gases to "Below" the rear undertray and help speed the air rushing "Under" the race car and out the Rear Diffuser. In other word, "Blowing the Underside" of the race car. That could be something to exploit.

    Ciao.

I think the RB solution, as the angling is limited, has to do with heating the gases underfloor. I hope these ingenious materials ferrari have been claiming to be working with are in this regard. a la byrne's new floor m'haps

what is this? heat from the engine collected by a portion of the floor then the hot air is directed to the diffuser??? i have seen rumors surrounding this issue that linked to the F2012. if this is true it would be a big factor, and byrne and newey would have the same idea
    Hell would have broken loose

Imagine air getting into the central duct and stalling the front wing on a corner like Eau Rouge or 130R . Can't imagine it'll do driver confidence any good either.

yes, might be true especially when following a car with dirty air in front, erratic front downforce might be an issue

The FIA do not broadcast off season testing session, no any track camera recording video like we have during a race weekend.
