Those are definitely wet tyres, full wets by the looks of it. But strangely they have the red super soft markings .

The second option sounds more time consuming to me.

    This categorically suck big time.

Haven't we had enough last year. FIA needs to do something about that before the season starts.

Teams have a tendency to use the "wet" compound to do an installation lap.

The wet tyres are mostly used for the system-check lap (the first lap or two of the day - installation lap). The photo should be from that moment.

On the Renault and Mercedes' engine maps, from ScarbsF1:

My information is they are running legal mappings and that it is having a big effect on drivability

One thing I'll remind you is that they stopped developing the 2011 car very early last year, to make sure that all resources are dedicated to the one for 2012. Sure, they may not be prepared fully for Melbourne (I certainly remember other times when Ferrari were never well prepared for the first races but then got up to speed during the European leg), but considering the strength of the competition and how championships have evolved recently, they'd need to sort themselves out quite quickly.

In any case, this is once again an outsider's perspective - it may well be, as I said in an earlier post, that the car is just super strong and they're hiding it. Which is what all of us hope at the end of the day.
lets hope they get it together

Pirelli has kept the four different coloured sidewalls – red (super soft), yellow (soft), white (medium) and silver (hard)

Yeah apparently the FIA is ready for this and it be clear to all the teams before Melbourne. I expect a directive sent to all the teams in a similar fashion to the reactive ride height one

It is a long break for a mechanical issue. We hope we can go back on track before the lunch break.

10:37 All cars are back in the pits, but there seems to be chunk of engine cover on the track. Possibly quite a large chunk

    10:37 Red flag

Could it be that those carbon pieces belong to our car???

well they fitted new parts to the car so, it can be just a matter of adjusting ...
But still I prefer the little issues now then in Melbourne...so no worries ;)
