According to the newspaper, the Italian Scuderia will make a fireball in its aero update for tests on Saturday (03) in Barcelona

The Ferrari F2012 can introduce new design for the pre-season training on Saturday (03). This is what the report said the Italian newspaper 'La Stampa', confirming through the driver Fernando Alonso, the Scuderia Red fireball will receive a new aerodynamic package, called 'RED'.

"We have improved, we have chosen the right path. Many parts, repairs and modifications were made by mechanics in F2012 as the project is so new that they at first did not know where to put your hands. Now I believe that on Saturday, the new F2012 will show its potential for the Australian Grand Prix, "said Alonso.

According to a report in Italian newspaper on Thursday and Friday, the Ferrari will be evaluating various technical solutions for the implementation of the 'RED'. The functioning of tires, the possible disposal of the steps in its beak, and height loss in the F2012 chassis have also been speculated by 'La Stampa'.

Anyway, Saturday (03), the F2012 will show your final finish in the third set of tests in pre-season F1 2012.

Translate with google (not too good)

    Also:
    @joseluisef1

-Today we have tested the F2012 improvements in refrigeration for use in specific circuits and / or new parts that evacuate more heat
-Then put on a new background and diffuser, the results were 'mixed' so we proceeded to use markers aerodynamic
-After analysis of the markers and telemetry proceeded to a profound change in the setup, with results to be analyzed
-They tested the system output (system start) with a new clutch & software in principle with excellent results by driver and team
-Then did some long stints to check the consistency and overall reliability as well as management of tires

In the La Stampa article, there is no reference to anything out of the ordinary (whatever fireballs and 'RED' are meant to be), but only the fact that on Saturday, the team will introduce the package to be used at Melbourne. Which is also not a novelty in itself, because most teams will be doing just that.

At the same time, considering that the team wanted to delay testing by a day in order to have more parts ready to use, one can only assume that there will be new things coming in the next days. I am curious as to why have they decided to alternate Felipe and Fernando during this testing session.

Really hard to tell, we don't know the fuel load and there was some confusion with the tires being used. However Massa did a pretty long stint towards the end which could well have been some sort of race simulation. The lap times aren't bad, somewhere in the region of what the McLaren and Red Bull did in the last test. There is a reasonable amount of consistency but nothing can be concluded from today's running.
Ferrari have just mentioned they were concentrating on long runs with focus on tire management and reliability and also mentioned some times this afternoon, that more work was needed on the car configuration, further proving that the car isn't running at full potential. Only thing we can assume is that the team will be fairly satisfied with the amount of laps they have put in.

    • Today, updates in the cooling intended to be used in specific circuits and / or new parts that evacuate more heat were tested in the F2012
    • Then, a new floor and diffuser were installed. The results were contradictory/inconclusive. Therefore, they proceeded to use aerodynamic markers
    • After the analysis of the markers and telemetry, a profound change in the setup was carried out. The results are to be analyzed yet
    • The start system was tested using a new clutch & software. Results were, in principle, excellent, according to the driver and the team
    • Then, some long stints were carried out in order to check the consistency and overall reliability as well as the tyre management
    • Let's see if tomorrow, tuning the setup and with some more parts, they achieve some of the expected downforce and the improvement of the damn traction

exactly Rob. i hope Ferrari make fools of these 'experts' talking smack. AMuS has Ferrari down with Caterham HRT, Virgin territory, and i wish i was exaggerating.

funny thing is RBR and Mclaren are not lighting up the timing screens all time and they are not getting the bashing we are saying season over and be fighting the mid field

We running to our own programmes. So what AMus and Autosport and the Beeb come to think of it. Wait till Melbourne.

Seems we are still struggling with wind tunnel/cfd data and it not working on track, that is the big worry for me as the longer it takes us to find that then we are falling behind.

    Anyway RB exhaust - http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2012/0/938.html

I thought they said from the begining of the tests that they have solve that issue!!!!!!!!!

I think it's pretty clear that we're about to remove the existing exhaust covers and refine the rear packaging. The exhausts aren't situated in their 'tubes' anymore, so no reason for them to be there.

I think its because the first 2 days of testing will be for parts and the car in general. While the last 2 days will mean we are setting up the car for melbourne, hence giving each driver the chance to work on the melbourne spec car.

If that is the case I wouldn't expect that to show up on the car until Melbourne. A new engine cover would need to be fabricated, right?
