Don't think Ferrari have a W duct. I haven't seen anything to suggest they do. This the type of thing that needs plenty fine tuning so I don't expect to see it in the early races if ever.

    Morning Gents.

I was on racecar-engineering.com last night. I noticed something that still hasn't been addressed. How on earth can Red bull manage to still run such a high rake and yet have the tip of their floor touching the ground. Its clear this has been one of their strongest areas of the car and yet no one can copy (they must all know about it) their solution. You can also clearly see a wire near the tip of the floor to the chassis.

Maybe something like what Scarbs described last year, is going on? http://scarbsf1.wordpress.com/2011/1...-saw-solution/

    Thoughts....?

Not that im aware off. I remember people wondering why Red Bulls floor, exposed after a crash last year, had visible wear marks all over it.

The secret for Red Bull seems to be that for the past few seasons they've managed a high raked attitude car, that gains them extra front wing performance and does so without excessive plank wear.

I do not see Red Bull rake is high.It is high as F2012 is at the bake of cars. But their tip touch the ground that maybe due to two different place of track.

What you see between the floor and chassis is a stay. It is there as reinforcement so the splitter does not deflect to much.

man some great technical data so far in this thread. if Ferrari are using a W duct, they need to find who their spy is and fire his ass pronto! It was disturbing when someone told the media about the nose channel on the F2008.

I really doubt Ferrari are using a W-Duct. The animation simply uses the most recognisable F1 marque to animate

Yeh, the w-duct video is already 2 or 3 weeks old. And if I am not mistaken, it is only nicely done presentation of someone's idea.
Looking forward to the start of test session. I thing, we wont see many new parts or major design changes.

The downwash, meaning the air that was previously attached to the bodywork around that area, and the coanda effect.

Best time for Massa for now...What worries me is the fact that we have pitot again on the car...I thought they've finished with data gathering...
