If we decide to use the second one, i still think we can make that exhaust outlet much more compact, and i think they will.
In the next few days they will fit the new part that goes with the new exhaust. Now i guess they are just running with what they have.

Seems more of a desperate move to deflect the exhaust to diffuser. It can surely give them drag, but how much DF, I am not too sure

I would not be so fast in jumping to conclusion if I were you.

I just assume Newey knows better how to bold donwforce on a car than anyone also in F1.

Welcome dmkevin, I'm sure you'll contribute, not everyone here is that technical so don't worry too much about that.

Luckily, you are not me, so ignore my post & move on.

I am not challenging Newey, & I am sure this is not final exhaust configuration for RB8. It doesn't help the cause to generate more DF, He has his plans which we will see in near future

14:21 That's like the sixth time he's done it

14:20 Massa has surprised everybody by driving down the pitlane once more

Perhaps it's a routine move to upload data, who knows. I read elsewhere in this forum that the facilities for data transmission at tests are not as reliable as during race weekends.

Hard to tell, but it seems Felipe has strung together about 20 laps without refuel or tyre change. So he must have had a fair amount of fuel and his first flying lap was 1:25.497, that's fairly respectable "if" he indeed had a fairly heavy fuel load. Be great to hear from people watching. How does the car look, what sort of grip etc.

I don't think we did 20, we were around 45 at noon break and now we are at 57, so we did around 12 or so.

    LOL Autosport
14:35 We were wrong, it's mediums for Grosjean. That's what happens when you change the system

14:34 It looks like hard tyre for Grosjean, but we need to confirm next time round as we've lost out tyre man momentarily. It's a two-man job to check tyres and write about them

and one man to monitor F2012

It is hard to tell, and I'm only going by the timings (from here) along with Autosports etc, but he did quite a few laps where he came down pit lane but didn't stop, or did practice start. That doesn't show a time, but he still traveled the lap. I do acknowledge I could have got it wrong, but, Autosport did report he did that 6 times in a row at the end of that last stint. Thanks Crucial
Meanwhile, it either says something or just nothing that Alonso, Schumacher and Raikkonen have reputedly spared a F1 podium on five occasions and Fernando has stood on the top step on every occasion. He's F1's first among equals. (PG)

    14:52 Webber's average laptime in that run was a 1m28.627s. His best a 1m27.993s

14:52 And as we say that, the Australian pits

14:51 In this 15-lap stint, Webber has dropped just one second on the hards. That would suggest Red Bull is looking very good.

I want to see doing the same thnig as Webber because i wonder how many seconds we will drop with a long run.And how much the laps will be stable...

Apparently Massa is on softs and has been right around 1:30 for about 10 laps now. Could be a run to see tire degradation.

I'm loving todays test, some consistency and a lot of laps.
