Race simulation completed. Let's see if there is time and space in the programme for a last run as there are 22 minutes remaining. http://twitter.com/#!/insideferrari

Alonso's race simulation/very long run is over, here's how it looked:

Stint one was nine laps on mediums, consistently in 1m30s with a few 1m31s.

Stint two was eight laps on softs, starting in low 1m29s, then going up to mid 1m30s before a single 1m32s.

Stint three was 12 laps on softs, going up from low 1m28s to mid 1m31s.

Stint four was 14 laps on mediums, going from mid 1m27s to mid 1m29s.

Stint five was 14 laps on mediums again, from mid 1m24s to high 1m26s.

I don't trust that guy, all the information he is posting is generic and it swings on a day to day basis(mirroring what we see on the tracks), but remember what we see on the track can be deceptive because we don't know exactly what's happening there.

I am sure that if, for example, Alonso would do a very good lap on the end of the session, joseluisef1 would tweet some like:

"New changes performed well, everything is fine now, the car is fast, new aerodynamic solution tomorrow ... bla bla bla" :D

So really we'll need to wait for Melbourne to know were we stand and the only thing that matters is what our drivers will say after this test.

It doesn't look good from my dinning room.

Tomorrow and Sunday are key for us. The car needs to be sorted out and bring an evolution for Melbourne and every race onwards.

With just four minutes until the end of the session, Grosjean blasts to the head of the order with a 1m22.614s on soft tyres.

But remember this time last year, when it was still Renault, we were pretty excited about the team's radical car and its testing form too... lol

The pace is not really important (too many variables), its the sharp drop off in the tyres thats not looking too good. If they were indeed using old tyres then I suppose that explains the pace but I'm guessing degradation should be the same with old or new tyres. But It's nice to see that ferrari have carried on with the sim, there should be a good amount of data for Mr. Hamashima to analyse tonight.

ALONSO VS GROSJEAN RACE SIM. ALONSO apparently 3 seconds faster.
Check it out (laptimes of race sim compared): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2270354/Simul%20ALO-GRO.pdf

But it's hard to tell who is using used tires and who's not. And besides there's no point hiding anything from now on, we've only got two days left and this might be the best we can do if a race was held tomorrow at Barcelona...who knows. Tomorrow Ferrari will be bolting on new parts, lets see what effect they'll have on the car.

Alonso did one more pitstop than Grosjean so I think overall we'll be slower.

Last year we saw the severe drop off in performance of the used set of tyres.its how the tyres are.
once a tyre is used it loses quite a bit of its potential.
Im not saying we dont have degradation problems..but its not as severe as some ppl make it to be..

Please click on the link, it clearly shows that Alonso made 4 pit-stops, the calculations HAVE taken this into considerations. It also shows that Grosjean did only 3 pit-stops.

Pit-stop laps are the ones that go into 1:40 +

Comparing lap times to other teams is useless. Have people here ever seen pre-season testing before? Lap time data tends to reveal very little.

The best data comes from the drivers own observations, not of their own cars, but of following other cars. On the last day, the drivers will reveal who they think look strong etc... They're normally always right. No drivers have so far commented on anything out of the ordinary (like Brawn 2009, Mclaren 2011 etc...) that I'm aware of. I personally think we're in a better place than most people are making out. Of all the video I've watched, I don't see the nervous Ferrari everyone is commenting on. It's perhaps not on rails, but all things in perspective, I don't think any car looks on rails. They all have different behavior in different places.

While at the first tests I was worried, I definitely think Ferrari is taking the right approach. The race simulation/long runs (125 laps) from Alonso will give us huge amounts of data we can correct and upgrade the car.

Remember, Ferrari took a gamble on the aggressive design, so that we won't have 2011 all over again. Testing is for trial-and-error. Let's be patient and optimistic.

The thing is, we are at the end of the testing. I was really optimistic in the last few weeks but If we still have problems now, with 2 days of testing left, we are in troubles.

I agree. Nevertheless, they were "testing 50 parts per day" (source:MARCA), so what this tells me is that they'll just keep putting the puzzle together. Expect major updates for Australia to fix rear downforce.

NO team have ever built a championship winning car in 12 days..Red Bull has had that car for 4 years, the same base essentially, even they take time to sort things out..we have 20 races to go.we will worry about being in trouble when are done by a few...

Another fantastic website...I've adjusted it so that the lap times start exactly from where both drivers start their race sim.

http://mclarenf-1.com/index.php?page...=50&l2=54&l=65 Use the controls on top to choose drivers to compare or even change the settings.

having a car that's conservative on tyre degradation was not an advantage last year. Because as soon as one of the fast car went into the pits, everyone else followed in order to avoid the cutoff. I don't know if this year we'll see the same trend though..

I aimed with that statement to the goals which our guys did set a month ago. They said that the car will be a winner from the begining, but it surely doesn't look like it's the case now. (I am in the bad mood right now, so don't take my posts too serious)
