SOme pobably think that Alonso is the only reason for us to see a ferrari on par with other front runners, we probably would've been lapping at 6th 7th etc. if it wasn't for him. that's why people wants felipe out, in hopes of having another driver who is just as good as fernando and can help Us grab more points. what they don't see is that its the car that isn't' t being nice to him. cut the guy some slack, we'll see how it goes in the next few races with the new chassis that had its thread on here closed.

If Felipe is getting a "bashing' it's because the driver still plays a part in the track perfomance and development of the car. When the car isn't particularly good, the driver's contribution becomes proportionally more important. New wing, new floor, new driver. They all add a few tenths here or there. Weak areas become more apparent.

FM has struggled with his car for a good few seasons, that much is plain to see. Now we keep hearing this is because Ferrari has yet to give him the right car, but with all due respect, it's been the same for FA. But whereas FM just goes as fast as the car will let him, FA seems to be able to transcend the car's limitations. Felipe has finished sixth overall of the top three teams for the last two seasons (driver line-ups unchanged). The other places have been mixed up depending who was having a good year and who wasn't. Sadly, it seems FM never has a good year, not since his comeback.

A new driver won't solve the car issues but may allow the performance we do have to be maximised. I think Felipe should be allowed to finish out his contract without the embarrassment of being fired, but a Kubica, Webber or even Ham-shaped replacement is very likely in '13.

    Well said TrueFan

Your analysis is spot on. Yes, it is harsh, and many people don't take kindly to the facts, but it is a fact that Ferrari has been underperforming for 3+ years now. It's time to shake things up. Ferrari is a prestigious company and one that cannot afford to have its name associated with losing and playing catch-up. Although Ferrari is a car company, it represents an entire country and it's pride it's being tarnished by these many years of underperformance. If SD & FM don't start delivering soon, very soon, changes will need to be made. The Italian media are asking for Massa to go NOW. it will not be much longer before they also ask for SD to follow. I would not be surprised to see Briatore in the role of team principal next year. He got results at Benetton and at Renault with much smaller budgets that the other front running teams. As far as Massa is concerned... He should just realize he is not contributing to the team and step aside. I would prefer to see someone like Alguersari or Perez in his seat. They are young, hungry and I am sure they would deliver better results.
Like they say in the movies... This is not personal, it's just business.
