The programme (comparison between various aerodynamic configurations, an evaluation of the performance of the two types of tyre, trying to find the best set-up) was the same. They just went about the programme differently.
Little optimism for us comes from RB-Team:
Helmut Marko admitted plainly: "We have lost our supremacy in qualifying. McLaren is better for one lap, and even Mercedes thanks to its F-duct is very strong. The Mercedes is quick as a flash on the straight and also Alonso is eerily consistent and in the race could be a problem," said the Austrian.

I'm a lot more positive than I was after Friday practice in Melbourne. From the onboard shots, the car looks fairly good in terms of setup and balance. None of that loose rear end and traction problems and the car going from from understeer mid-corner to snap oversteer or anything like that.
I don't remember either of our drivers making any mistakes as well today, no off-track moments. All of which hopefully means that they've managed to fine tune the setup a lot more compared to last week. Plus, as have already been mentioned, Alonso's long run pace near the end of FP2 looked very good.
I still think we'll struggle in qualifying, because McLaren, Mercedes and even Lotus look like they've got good single lap pace. But on the other hand, it also looks like Red Bull are struggling a little bit on that aspect too, so it should be fun!
The future is RED
Another thing is the start. Last race we saw both Alonso and Massa make up lots of ground at the start, similar trend as last year. Malaysia has a nice long straight so even if quali is bad we can make it up at the start.
Seems Ferrari twitter is giving some back to those who want to abuse us
I like it

What happened?
Silly question of the day:
What, except for problems, did Pat Fry bring to Ferrari?
Addio Signor Enzo. Ciao Gilles.
Those macs look fast, Merc too. It wont be long b4 everyone has Mercs rear wing F duct. It is legal.
Cant wait for those to appear. Hope Massa does some good times P3 n Q. If we have good race pace,
we may be better off than I thought. Its hot n Merc will need 1 more tire stop. They will eat up their tires.
Sauber is really good it appears.
Changes that previous designers were too afraid to take.
There was an interview posted here some time ago that our previous designer, that guy who went to Merc now, said that it was too big of a risk to change to pull rod suspension on the rear. Most other teams have already done so, while we stubbornly stick to the old design which consequently limits how small the rear section can be. This wasn't a huge issue with the old diffuser as they were too large anyway, but once the FIA decided to reduce the size of the diffuser, it was obvious we need to get the rear as slim as possible.
Our car were conservative for too many years. Was it good? Of course, its not hard for Ferrari to build a good car. But our competitors are all taking risk to build a great car, they are trying all sort of new design. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least they were going somewhere while the stood idle.
Now we're starting from scratch. We have to take risk and it will take time before we see the final result. I believe the ends will ultimately justifies the means. If we had to sacrifice this season as a learning curve, so be it.
I read that the merc f-duct goes from the front of the nose to the rear of the wing,by flowing through tubing.
The opposite actually. The air enters the rear wing side structure when DRS is enable (the flap open, expose the hole that takes in the air). The air is then channel to the front wing, and release below it to stall the wing (increase the pressure below the wing). It only works when DRS enable.
Overall how were we today.... Read there The RB boss was worried about Alonso 's consistency.. Have we improved or whats our performance like???
"That has made me fall in love with Ferrari even more today than ever." Fernando Alonso
Don't play dumb with me. I'm better at it than you are.
Question of the year:
Aldo Costa moves to Mercedes and Mercedes becomes competitive, Pat Fry replaces Aldo Costa and Ferrari becomes....................
(Replace the dotted line with whatever adjective(s) or noun(s) you deem suitable(s) )
1000$ question: can you spot the error?
Addio Signor Enzo. Ciao Gilles.
Merc sucked for race pace in Aus, rear wing f-duct gives them a boost in qual.
Forza Ferrari
I actually think that Ferrari is better than Merc in raw race pace but they have the f-duct thing in qualifying so it's kinda hard to tell really..
There is validity in the Virtues of having the correct Technical Director. Aldo Costa is an Excellent Engineer and Technical Director except he was to conservative at Ferrari and did not "ALLOW" the team of Engineers at Ferrari to reach further. That was his biggest fault. With Pat Fry witnessing the events that happened at Ferrari "First Hand" he was able to do the things Costa did not and modify the way Ferrari does things. Ferrari have very much, the same Engineering Group as they have had for the past 10 years except several new key department chiefs (some of the best in the business) have been hired during the past 2 years to get more out of the Engineer Group at Ferrari.
The person with the burden of being responsible rests on the shoulders of Domenicalli, Fry & Tombazis! Time will tell if there is a strong improvement or will Aldo Costa be a missing member of the team???
Ciao.
Forza Ferrari!!!!
