Alonso's race pace seems pretty good. On the qualifying front Fry said getting into Q3 will be difficult. So about the same as Australia.

Not bad my friend.Especially,Fernando looks good in long runs and Alonso said that he was encouraged by the performance of the Pirelli tyres during the second session. Also,Marko pointed "The Mercedes is quick as a flash on the straight and also Alonso is eerily consistent and in the race could be a problem

There were some talk about Alonso's consistency too during the heavy fuel long run testing during P2, Red Bull praised it too. But take that with a grain of salt for now.

    Long runs from FP2

Alonso started on hards and then pitted for mediums.
Massa started on mediums and then switched to hard.

For Massa's sake, I hope Alonso's car was lighter.

There's nothing that says Alonso had less fuel in the car during the long runs.

But there is something to say Massa was running a different programme to see what went wrong in Australia....

Hmmm, Fry actually said the programs were very similar for both drivers. A bit of contradiction here and there, who to believe?

The difference in lap times is too much to be on the same programme. Alonso is generally faster, but please do not exaggerate.

Not necessarily. I think we look to be in better shape here. Plus massa with the new chassis seems very optimistic, so i think we shud be able to squeeze both cars into Q3. Grid position might be third row onwards, but its a improvement over melbourne. So am not complaining.

"Slight differences", not looking good for Massa even with a new chassis. I will reserve judgement over him until after the weekend.

Well, maybe the program was solving problems?
Alonso obviously had less problems than Felipe, so maybe that was how it was different. The main theme to come from today seems that problems have been positively identified.

Maybe it's worth considering to start race on primes and finish on options?
Meanwhile, it either says something or just nothing that Alonso, Schumacher and Raikkonen have reputedly spared a F1 podium on five occasions and Fernando has stood on the top step on every occasion. He's F1's first among equals. (PG)
