Alonso started on hards and then pitted for mediums.
Massa started on mediums and then switched to hard.
For Massa's sake, I hope Alonso's car was lighter.

The difference in lap times is too much to be on the same programme. Alonso is generally faster, but please do not exaggerate.
Not necessarily. I think we look to be in better shape here. Plus massa with the new chassis seems very optimistic, so i think we shud be able to squeeze both cars into Q3. Grid position might be third row onwards, but its a improvement over melbourne. So am not complaining.

Pat Fry: “Both drivers had a very packed programme today, with slight differences between them, but focussed on the same three main points: a comparison between various aerodynamic configurations, an evaluation of the performance of the two types of tyre (Medium and Hard) that Pirelli have brought here and trying to find the best set-up.
"Slight differences", not looking good for Massa even with a new chassis. I will reserve judgement over him until after the weekend.
"The client is not always right." - Enzo Ferrari
so differences, not similar and read what Felipe said, why I have to defend Ferrari on here from people twisting their words I have no idea.

Alonso obviously had less problems than Felipe, so maybe that was how it was different. The main theme to come from today seems that problems have been positively identified.
