Does remind me of two posters, though: lets call them Sadam and Eve. Both with 2 posts.
Also 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes and 2 ears.

Not sure why I brought them up, though.

I suppose it is down to extreme loyalty.

It is hard for us to separate Felipe Massa who is a genuinely nice guy, had a big accident in our car and with us for 6 yrs from the hard business of racing only the fittest survive, and having to criticise him for poor results. I know that is how i feel.

    Gooooooooo Felipe

Yes,he had a big accident but he survived. I'm pretty sure he wouldnt expect to keep his seat just out of sympathy. It's cruel but unfortunately, things that have happened in the past (both good and bad) are not a reason to keep a continuously under performing driver in one of the best seats on the grid.

if Felipe loved the scuderia as much as its loved him over the years he would give up his race seat himself. He should be thankful for all the years he's been blessed to have at Ferrari and move on to another role with Ferrari or to another race seat. Instead he will be pushed out.

There have been many drives in Felipes time, with plenty of talent, that have not been given a chance at Ferrari like hes had for so long.

    Steve has 2 points
    Adam has 2 points

Steve crashed every race on the first lap but 1 and finished 9th, Adam DNF from winning in 4 races on the last lap and finished 9th due to a car problem.

Some forum member comes along and says, Adam sucks he only has 2 points. It's just a bit easier on a F1 forum to use driver names but hopefully you get my point now.
Steve got on a train in Marinello headed south at 60 MPH; Adam got on a train in Rome headed North at 55 MPH...wait a minute...

Are you sure that any other driver in place of Massa would have got more points than Felipe? Don't forget that Fernando is a specialist in grabbing points with a dog of car. And unfortunately Ferrari has lately build a nice collection of uncompetitive cars.

If things change -and after the Spanish GP it seems so- and Felipe adapts soon to the new tyres (Alonso is also a specialist in adaptation) I think both drivers will get valuable points.

At this moment the team seems very stable and focused in improving, I would not change anything.

The issue is Felipe is that he is a veteran fully developed driver. If anything he's regressed because of his tragic injury.

I rather Ferrari try and go wrong with a young driver who can learn under Alonso than have Felipe keep on. Ferrari need to find the future and develop it too.

Best case would be to swap Felipe with Perez. It would really reveal a lot about the two drivers and the cars also. Felipe would be happy in a car that is easier to driver and Perez would be happy with Ferrari.

It could also reveal a lot about Alonso.

I think Alonso has already proven himself over the course of his career in a way that Felipe and many other have not.

I think he's the better driver. However, Felipe came with a whisker of taking the WDC. He would have 1 to Alonso's 2. Not a big advantage, really.

That year is a discussion in itself. Retirements were one of the stories that year. Only one for HAM, 3 for Felipe, 5 for RAI. Ferrari and McLaren had cars that were basically the same that year.

Point is what is there to gain with Felipe now? Why wouldn't the scuderia want to find the next star driver to learn from Alonso?

Shoot at this point in the WCC I would rather put anybody in the second car and use it as test car the whole year.

Biggest presure of his Ferrari career with Ferrari posting what appears to be a veiled threat, situation appears to be coming to a head, out performed by ever greater margins....the only conclusion according to f1 in 2012 is a Massa win in Monaco. Come on Felipe. Knowone would have expected Maldonado to win so I think Felipe will win one of the next 2 races but I'm not putting money on it

That would be great for him and for the scuderia and stop all the sack talk. However just being close to Alonso's pace would also do so.

Also he's never finished higher than 3rd at Monaco.

He has little confidence in the F2012 with how difficult it is to drive. If anything he's more likely to do worse than ever on a track where a calm car is very important.

    LINK>>Ferrari shoot down Massa speculation
Team laugh off claims Brazilian is 'facing the sack'

'It was funny to read on the media this morning how the same concepts can be read in a different way from one day to the next one! What was published on our website on Monday evening just reflected what Domenicali said Sunday night about Felipe, nothing more than this! Anyway, someone has found a good opportunity to promote the umpteenth candidate to replace Felipe: this time it's Jerome D'Ambrosio...

Don't play dumb with me. I'm better at it than you are.

But they did that when they put Massa in the seat "to learn from Michael". Can't have it both ways.

Unless they are very young, or have a firm commitment that Alonso retires in a year or two, those who would take it aren't WDC material, and those that are WDC material won't take it.

Yes, Ferrari probably thought Felipe would develop into a top notch driver. He didn't. Either try again and perhaps succeed, or as you point out get a top notch proven driver to begin with like Kubica (given hes healthy).

I'm of the opinion that Ferrari should never be developing a driver directly but rather using Sauber or another to do so through the FDA.
