    Felipe Massa sucks, says Suzie

Alonso says Massa one of the best drivers in the World
    Source: Autosport
    By Jonathan Noble

Fernando Alonso has reiterated his full support for team-mate Felipe Massa and their boss Stefano Domenicali, despite a difficult start to the campaign.

With Ferrari's F2012 having fallen short of the team's high expectations, there has been speculation that both Domenicali and Massa could be fighting for their futures if the situation does not improve.

But Alonso is in no doubt that both men are doing an excellent job - and he sees no reason why any thought should be given to change.

Writing on his official website in response to questions from fans, Alonso said about Massa: "He's one of the best drivers in the world, and he has shown it during his whole career.

"It's easy to praise when you have a good car but also to criticise when you have a bad one. I lived similar situations during my last stint at Renault, when some of my team-mates were unfairly criticized and now, they are being praised once again."

When asked about Domenicali's situation, and whether it would be better to have someone like Flavio Briatore in charge, Alonso said: "Stefano's work is fantastic in every sense and I can't think of anyone better than him.

"As I explained before, it only takes one race to pass from criticism to praise. I'm very good friends with Flavio and we talk frequently. He's one of the most intelligent people I've ever met."

Alonso also revealed that he was troubled by severe leg pain at the start of the 2010 campaign.

"I think the time I suffered most was at the beginning of last season, when I was suffering from an injury to the sciatic nerve which caused me a lot of pain to the leg towards the end of races," he said.

I don't see why his opinion would change even if Massa no longer drives for Ferrari next year?

I don't think Alonso had even said anything bad about Lewis, and his relationship with Massa is far better than with Lewis.

Fernando nicely puts it into perspective, Massa has everyone's support at Ferrari. Both our drivers are struggling with the car, not just Massa. Fernando knows that with a good car they will both be fighting up front but with a bad car it's hard to get good results and you can go from hero to zero very quickly. The only thing I hope never happens is Flavio having anything to do with Ferrari

I agree Massa is a good driver who has struggled since the head injury for various reasons and should be repected. IF FLAVIO BRIATORE GETS PUT IN CHARGE AT FERRARI ######## polite words fail me!!!!!

I just don't think that Flavio's personality, and the entire way his mind and ego works fits with ferrari.

I look at the ferrari team today, and everyone of them are so serious about not only their work but also their image and the way they are in life.

Juts from reading these words from fernando shows you, i think the keyword that links the top people workin in our team ( stefano, rob, andrea, felipe and alonso) is CLASSY, which we all know is the achilles heel of flavio.

Guessing you havent followed Massa's performance over the last two years..its a clear waste of the second Ferrari seat IMO..

Alonso putting stunning performances and the second driver...amassing 4% of the points so far...its not unfair to say that his performance is medicore..

Yeah you are right I have not followed nothing, think you will find in 2010 Massa backed up Alonso very well, 2011 he had a terrible time yes but not all down to his performances.

But still if you know better than Fernando then so be it Alonso has also had up and downs in his career.

LOL, have the anti-Massa people forgotten how he out qualified Alonso many times in 2010?

Unfortunately the 2011 and this year's cars are donkeys. And Massa's position in the standings is the real relfection of how bad those cars are.

but you didn't say that though did you? Instead, you chose to criticise what one of Ferrari's current drivers said about its other current driver with your first post. So dissing both our drivers with your first post maybe isn't the smartest thing to do as the basis for then criticising the F1 knowledge of a poster who has been following Ferrari and F1 for most of his life.

Guessing you haven't followed TSN for long then?

This years points are not a true guide. In the last 2 races Massa has benn excellent finishing 5 and 7 seconds behind Alonso over 58 laps. If Alonso is clearly the best of the current grid you cannot expect many other drivers to be this close. Maybe Vettel Button Hamilton but knowone else so well done Massa and when car is winning finishing 5 seconds behind will bag many 2nd places which would be perfect.

I agree with Alonso that Massa is one of the best (you have to be one of the best to be in F1 and drive for a top team like Ferrari).

However, he only outqualified Alonso 4 times in 2010 (Bahrain, Turkey, Monaco and Belgium), which is actually the same amount of times he outqualified him in 2011.

Hmmm, whether or not the equine sub-class for this year's model is a donkey or a thourougbred remains to be seen me thinks. keep the faith. Forza Massa

I'm hoping with every race till the end of the season. But the F2012 has so far been the worst since Alesi's era. Actually even worse, at least Jean was able to put in the top six.

Until it improves, it remains a donkey.

Nice for Felipe to get Fernando's blessing, but hope he didn't just say it to be pc, the points tally this year doesn't reflect Felipe's on-track efforts, the strategy always seems to lose him so many places that he can't recover. But well done Fernando, for admitting that Felipe can still deliver once the donkey becomes a stallion.....same applies for all others in F1, give them a rubbish car and they'll all fall by the wayside.

I'm a huge Massa fan, but the points do reflect Felipe's on-track efforts. How could they not?
Unless you mean that he's trying, but the car just isn't good....but this begs the question: then what about Alonso?

I think the points reflect how bad his first 2 races were. The last 2 were MUCH better, so here's to some more points I hope.

Last 2 races he has been close enough to Alonso, Malaysia was a bit of a freak result and that has really skewed the points total.
