Surprised to see Williams and Sauber ahead of us. Looks like Sauber themself was very surprised too, good for them though.
A bad day for Red Bull which is good for us since they are the closest rival at the moment . Hopefully Alonso can keep Lewis behind tomorrow. Its good enough for this race if Alonso can finish ahead of Lewis and the Red Bulls. Button still got a mountain to climb so not so bad if he wins this one anyway, lol.
Unfortunate for Massa too. We saw his gap was around .4 to .5 to Alonso, so nothing changed from FP3, but unfortunately the grid was once again so closed.
Very strange result.....but not as bad as it looks at all. Fernando can very well extend his lead in the championship this way.
Seems like nobody wants to be champion except us....

alonso main contenders might be behind him..but ferrari must realizes that with this paces, other drivers can catch him especially kimi..
Disappointed by gap from P1, but satisfied with grid order

Kimi is 48 points behind and says he can be champion.......but hey Kimi, they all can but you have to be consistent....like Fernando is.

Weird qualiying, the top 3 looked like in another planet. Alonso did ok, if you don't take the top 3 into account, his time is there with the bests, Massa pretty bad. At least we have many rivals behind but it's going to be a very difficult race.
What really could be seen as shocking maybe: put Vettel in a car which is just as fast but not faster as the others and he is.......gone???

I think for the next half of this season, Lotus is betting on their new DRS thing. Until now they have only tested them on Friday, we've yet to see how useful it is in the race. If it works similar to what it should do in theory, it could gain them a huge advantage in race since they will be like having DRS effect every lap. But that's just in theory, whether it works or not we'll have to wait and see.
If Ferrari are stuck, then what are RedBull?

Did you see Button :o
we look good on the fast parts , first and third sector . We decided to low downforce rear wing , so it is expected to lose some in second sector.
Gené said Alonso made no mistake in Qualifying, I thought he did. So that was it.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.
The guys with higher downforce won't be so quick in sectors 1 and 3 because they will not be able to use DRS there. I asume that at higher downforce setups the DRS reduces drag more efectively (the speed difference between DRS on and off can be bigger) relative to lower downforce setups. At least I hope so.
Hamilton had to qualify high up, but I think it might be a Monza 2011 for him again, he is way down on top speed. Alonso on the other hand has a great top speed, maybe Ferrari should have put more wing on, but the top speed advantage should help at the start. I hope the tyres hold up.
Alonso hopefully gets a good start

Belgian GP - Alonso only 6 °, but in front of the main rivals01/09/2012
Spa-Francorchamps, September 1 - In the qualifying session valid for the Grand Prix of Belgium was Jenson Button on McLaren to win the pole position in 1.47.573. To complete a novel grid has been the Sauber of Kamui Kobayashi (1.47.871) and the Williams of Pastor Maldonado (1.47.893). It is not enough however the determination expressed by Fernando Alonso who won the third row and sixth place on the grid behind Raikkonen at Lotus (4 °) and Perez of Sauber (5 °). On a positive note, in optical world, the Spanish Scuderia Ferrari will start in front of his closest rival who had time even more difficult: Webber (Red Bull) will start in seventh place (also undergo a five place penalty for changing replaced ), Hamilton (McLaren) in the eighth and even out of the Q3 in eleventh place the other Red Bull of Vettel. A bitter performance for the other Ferrari driver Felipe Massa who suffered balance problems with his car with which it has gained access in Q3, for him the fourteenth position (1.49.147). The Belgian Grand Prix will start Sunday at 14.

Yeah, Fernando can get some flying starts, our top end speed is amazing. Long drag upto Les Combes. Just as long as he gets round La Source without contact. Feel really nervous about the start already. Happy with grid position really. Massa? lets pass judgement tomorrow when the race is over tomorrow. Be great if he can get cracking start and get up into the mix and help Fernando and the team.

Massa, Vettel, Shue..all way down there..does anyone else find that strange?
6th position and Webber, Hamilton & Vettel behind us?! - I'd say good in terms of championship!!!
But almost a second down from pole in Q2 and only about 3-tenths covered - got lots of work to be done for the future.....
BTW, 6th place is the dirty or the clean side of the track???.....coz Alonso can get some good starts!

Why are you worried about Bulls? If they are stuck, good for others, but they are not the only one we are fighting with. There is McLaren, which is way quicker right now and also Lotus. But while McLaren is bringing quite big upgrades last few races and Lotus is developing their Device, I can't see anything "eye catching" on our cars and I can't here any talks about Ferrari developing something interesting.

My thoughts exactly. McLaren was slow even with DRS. They will suffer on S1 and S3 tomorrow when they can't open the flap. Ferrari and Red Bull have their cars set up for better non-DRS speed. The question is can they be close enough to Button through S2 to pass him on the straights.
Btw, is any of you watching the GP2 race? It's a freaking joke...

Most important for Alonso to get thru La Source unscathed after the start and then overtake 1-2 cars
What does the weather forecast for tomo look like??..Wondering if ppl gambled on a diff setup.
I have never seen Hammy so far behind Jenson..
Plus Ferrari have not had a big upgrade as ppl predicted. Its in Singapore where the updates start to come along..
Till then fingers crossed...
Melker hit the wall on the top of eau rouge (radillion) so there was safety car. When under SC 3 cars out of nowhere just stopped on the track so that was first red flag. Then restart under SC but after 10 meters or so there was another red flag because the medical helicopter was (and still is I guess) missing...
EDIT: I forgot about Haryanto spinning and beaching his car under SC... he was starting from pole.
