Michael Schumacher has suffered a serious head injury while skiing

News is only just coming in but it does not look good.

    Hang in there Schumacher

    http://au.eurosport.com/formula-1/schumach...742/story.shtml

The Formula One legend sustained the injury while skiing in Savoie with his condition as yet uncertain.

The seven-time world champion has reportedly been transported straight to hospital where he is being treated.

According to news outlet Europe 1, Schumacher was alone as he suffered the injury in Meribel, Savoie.

The 44-year-old retired from F1 in October 2012, two years after having returned to competition.

The latest from RMC Sport comes from Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte.

He's the director of Meribel and has just told them that the injury is "not very serious," which sounds like good news.

"He crashed at 11:07, off-piste, in Meribel.

"He was wearing a helmet and crashed into a rock.

"The emergency services reacted quickly, at 11:15... He was heli-lifted to Moûtier hospital."

"He was shocked, a little worried, but conscious.

"It could possibly be a cranial injury but it is not very serious."

Good news, and an eight-minute reaction time is very important.

Seeing the headline was one of the worst moments of my life.

Fortunately it seems like it's been blown out of proportion and sensationalised by the media but let's wait for more information so we know the full extent of it.

Hopefully it's just a concussion. Get well soon Michael.

Glad it was just the media over reacting, we should know better but still a horrible headline. Hopefully the latest reports are correct and it's nothing too serious.

Michael really should just sit on the couch though

Phew... when I first read the title of this thread I was starting to get really worried, but now that I've read the reports saying that he's concious it's such a relief. I really-really hope that it's nothing too serious and he'll be just fine. Come on Schumi, pull through and get well! I know what a fighter you are. And for your family's and fan's sake please stop with these risky sports!

Glad the news seems more positive than the first reports were. Would be beyond devastated if anything happened to him.

    OK, it's boring-season, but still...
Schumacher was skiing off-piste (at his own risk), he fell, bump his head and was taken to the hospital for a check. So?
It's a long winter, OK, but a thread for it, isn't it a bit ridiculous?

"Beyond devastated", Suzie? Are you sure?
It's not like MS was doing some perilous humanitarian mission in a third world country, he was simply having fun in one of the most luxurious sky resort in France.

You are free to go do something better than try and mock other members for showing concern for one of our legends. Felipe was not on a perilous humanitarian mission either, have some class please.

The initial reports of the accident made it sound rather serious, if you are not going to show respect then go away from this thread.

    Are you being purposely obtuse?

The initial reports about Michael were that he had a serious head injury - why wouldn't I be upset about that; the man is one of my heroes.

And yes, despite the fact it happened in a luxurious resort, it would be tragic if he'd been badly injured and I would feel bad. It's called empathy.
    Forza Jules
