No it was 4 tokens from last year, which we applied to the engine but never used that configuration

Are those holes or this is a optical illusion?

You cannot say, probably those are just a bend in the floor and an added small aero plate. We need a photo from a better angle.
I'm happy Ferrari has brought a new flñoor, hope it works.

Another forum says they are holes and have been there last year but with raised gearbox you can see more. Apparently they are allowed for additional cooling.

On another note great pictures can see lots of very fine details especially the little teeth on the front wing.

They are not holes. Holes in the floor (other than for the starter motor) are not allowed. They were specifically banned after the 2009 double diffuser fiasco. The dip/channel is formed by the floor curving down to form the central plank area under the center of the car.

This is not a current image, but the central plank rules geometry has not been changed:

A similar but smaller channel was present last year on the SF-15T. The higher gearbox and slimmer bodywork at the rear of the SF-16H have opened up more space so the channel is more exposed. This allows more airflow over the top of the diffusor which increases downforce generated.

Here is a similar shot of the SF-15T:

The pillar passing through the exhaust seems rather complex to me, don't you think ?
Would it be legal to use heat to bend the rear spoiler ?
Assuming that the longer you use full throttle, the less downforce you need.

we're still NOT running the monkey seat???? anyone know why??
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

The car needs to be balanced, this must mean the rear produces more downforce than the front so the car doesn't need the monkey seat.

The Haas car is like a 2015/16 merge. The exact measurements of the 2016 car but with the aero more similar to 2015.

I had kinda been thinking something similar. And I agree the center pillar assembly does look complex.
I like the ingenuity if it is as you suggest, but wouldn't that violate the rule against moveable aero devices?

Maybe the revised rear end is producing enough downforce that its not needed? Teams only run one if the really need, since it does also produce drag too.

I think so. But as always in Formula one, you can't forbid a result, just solutions to acheave this result.

I guess this time Merc won't go with medium for the race. That would be really bold from them without even trying it in the practice. So their strategy is kind of given. That's good for us I guess.

    Derated engine

Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff also believed that a factor that could not be ignored was the fact that Vettel's engine appeared to be 'derated' (when electrical power runs down) in qualifying.

"For me qualifying was overall quite interesting because the gaps were bigger than expected and then on that second run in Q2, they actually had a pretty decent lap," he said.

"They weren't running at all after the first run in Q3. We see some derating of the engine, much more than last year, but we don't know what is happening within that car.

"So my personal opinion is that you see that potential in that car. We see the threat in that car. But they haven't been able to fully translate that into lap time."

ya I agree. I think the mediums will be more for testing and the softs and ss's will be for the race.
The meds will allow longer stints with very steady lap times to evaluate new parts

Even Williams have chosen three sets of mediums. I guess they are brining the new nose and upgrades to Bahrain as well. Looking forward to see the new bits in our car.
