I like the looks of lower rear wing.

I thought the shark fin thing was banned in the past. I guess the new rules allow them again?
    Wished it remained banned, lol.

If I may, the shark-fin is for aero-purposes due to the lower rear wing. It distributes the "disturbed air" coming over the sides(air-inlets) of where the driver sits evenly onto the rear wing down the straight and into the corner.

There was a ban in 2011 on "connected" shark fins to the rear wing. The shark fin of 2017 does NOT connect to the rear wing.

Correct. The F-duct got banned, not sharkfins, which weren't very effective with the raised rear wings. In 2008, the last year with lower rear wings, pretty much everyone used them

The livery looks good, but why they changed it after just one year is beyond me. The car itself has some interesting features, and looks more advanced than both the Williams and the Sauber. Lots of Castrol stickers, too

Because this is actually the first car made by them since they came back. Last year was Lotus' car.

I know last year's car was just a Lotus from 2015 (they only completed the buy-out in December 2015, so there was no time to build a 100% new car), but not only they never officialy aknowlodged it, but it was raced as Renault with a Renault livery, so that explanation makes no sense, sorry

I actually like the new livery, even though changing it after just one year makes zero sense. But those overalls, what were they thinking???

The overalls reflect the new livery. Imo it looks just as bad on the car then it does on the overalls. The car design though looks good. The shark fin looks massive

Just like the Sauber one. The car looks very refined and is full of aero trickery. Williams will suffer this year...

I won't. Since (at least) 2014 Williams has always launched their cars with renders. Apart from subtle differences in the wings or turning vanes, the final versions looked almost the same, so I'm not expecting it to be any different this year

Just check the SF-17 thread, where I posted yesterday the 2014 render and the car that raced in Melbourne that year. If I ever come to Sydney, I'll buy you a Foster if you see any differences between the two

Livery looks good. They were known in the U.K. as team "Enstone" due to the location while during the "Lotus" years until Dec. 2015 when Renault officially took over. Seems this livery has all of its sponsors in order. I still think the Williams has alot of empty space so we will see come track day at OZ if they put any more sponsors on. Williams does have an AMG PU sooooo...I just leave it at that for now. The shark fin is more pronounced on this RS17 which is I think better from an aero advantage....use up as much space as you can if it will help with the slipstream. Not bad Renualt from a livery aspect.

And Prost is back as an advisor for Renault........I always think of him as the "cry-baby" during the Senna Era.....just cannot get that out of my head.

They've been in Enstone since the Benetton days.
I noticed in the launch that Castrol/BP is a major sponsor, so Renault got more from them than the McLaren supplier deal
As for Williams, I don't think they'll get more sponsors, TBH. Anyway, I was surprised to see none of Stroll's companies in the car...
