Well, could be worse, here in the US there is no one to even get ticked off at since there is ZERO coverage of testing. Maybe, just maybe, if I hunted around all the sports channels, I would hear one or two sentences about F1 testing & all that they would say is 'F1 testing is underway in Barcelona & so and so has the fastest lap, meanwhile Dale Earnhardt... bla... bla... NASCAR... bla... bla... Danica....

And we're back underway as the green flag is unfurled to mark the start of the afternoon session...

No cars on track just yet this afternoon.

But there's an engine fire up...and off down the pit lane goes the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.

Ricciardo looks to be starting a sustained run of laps as Red Bull bid to make up for lost time. The Aussie's first effort is his fastest of his disrupted day, 1:28.541.

Let's not get carried away with time sheets, we have been fastest in winter testing in 2011, 2016 etc. It's important to learn the car, tyres & rack up more miles & find out what path to take for development throughout the year

Two teams halfway down that mileage table, Renault and Sauber, are currently adding to their totals with Hulkenberg and Ericsson out in the RS17 and C36 respectively.

For Hulkenberg, it's the first full day in Renault machinery after his winter switch from Force India so it'll be interesting to hear his initial verdict on his new team's car and engine this evening. The German is still sixth on the times, but has just improved to 1:25.966.

IMHO we just need as many smooth, reliable laps as possible over the two tests to 'learn' the car, show reliability and accumulate maximum data. At the top of the time sheets looks good but close to the top is enough.
    Can't wait for Oz!

With that new-look Mercedes, Hamilton has wasted little time in hauling his name up the timesheet with the triple champion already up to fifth with a 1:25.225.

In the last few minutes we've also just seen new personal bests for the day from Felipe Massa, who is now third in the charts, and Kevin Magnussen as the Dane seeks to steady the Haas ship after a difficult morning.

Hamilton also improved, putting in a 1:24.756, before opting for a little breather in the pits.

A jump up the order for Williams, as Felipe Massa takes second from Mercedes' Bottas with a new personal best time of 1:23.025. That's just two tenths adrift of Vettel's benchmark.

Maybe the team is changing something internally (on the car) that is taking a long time.

I saw a catering truck arrive at the Scuderia garage....when asked...the driver said they ordered fettucine alfredo with lobster and white wine.

We need to get both cars out there like over an hour ago.....just run them

They continue to lead the timesheet, but Ferrari are having a quieter afternoon session so far with Sebastian Vettel still in the garage.

The German's 63 laps are just short of an equivalent of a Spanish GP race distance so, with these new faster cars designed to increase the physical challenge for drivers, it's probably been more than a decent workout for a first day back.

Of course, the laps have been racked up across different runs with breaks in between, but you suspect the drivers will have a few aches and pains at the end of today.
