Had similar issue in 1st race for Kimi I think. Where they have used new turbo components. If it's again, in later part of the season penalty is on the cards

AAAAAANNNNNNDDDD VanDoorne parks the Mc/Honda. Maybe Ferrari can take their car to them as they have experience in engine swapping.

it's just p1 so it's too early to conclude anything.

Seems to be an awful lot of graining on the tires.

Hope they can get Kimi's car fixed for FP2. That's the most important session for both qualy and race.

If you mean pre season testing then that is definately not the pre season testing engine. Teams have 4 engines to use through the season so I doubt 1 of them would be the engine that has covered thousands of KM. They would have taken a new engine and the 3 remaining engines will come at specific races where they would plan to bring engine updates at those planned races.

Indeed. And none of them did alot of laps. We'll see in FP2 just how long mediums will last.

FP2 will be much more representative than FP1. Mediums look really slow. Kimi's engine failure brought back terrible memories from last year's formation lap.

Does not sound like just an overheated turbo to me.

hence the teardown and replacement......I guess they will figure out what happened with regards to specificity (what engine component it was) later as they try to get a new PU in Kimi's car quickly.
