In all fairness we tried a new suspension and we started chewing through tires more rapidly

So maybe we’re gonna have a more revised/updated of the last suspension, maybe some aero. It’s....we,ll see

According to Motrosport Italy:

SPEC2 will provide some extra 12HP (thats roughly 0.2s @ Canada) with improved effiency and reliablity, the original plan was to bring a more agressive evolution but Binotto doesn't want any surprises for this GP.

Ferrari will also bring some aero upgrades (diffuser).

Sucks if Ferrari and Mattia are going to be conservative, Toto already said they going all out on the engine and development making sure all merc cars are going to get the new spec engine too, i hope Ferrari dont end up to reluctant for pushing the power since Kimi's engines kept failing, Ham and Bot will be out of reach. I rather challenge Mercs for the win than RB for 3rd and 4th with reliability tbh, but then again last year Seb lost the championship through poor reliability, o gosh lol i want the both of best worlds, massive power and uncracked car reliability like hamilton gets to enjoy

What are the rumored HP gain for Mercedes? Any rumors?
We supposed to get 20, then 15, now only 12, still, better than 0.
Mercedes will be bringing an upgrade, hope we get few horses more than them. Hope our battery monitoring does not affect us.
Hope we can be just like we were in Baku.

I'm glad someone else noticed this and actually did the math. It's worse than the quick calculations I did in my head. I just want to take a moment to externalize just how serious this is.

At first glance, you see that it cost Seb 14 points, and then you may see that he would then be leading the championship by 17 points.

Think about that for a second. Max caused a 31 point swing in the championship in Lewis' benefit! Talk about luck! That is more than a race win while Lewis DNFs!!! And Seb would still be 6 points down from where he would otherwise have been without Max's crashes.

And this doesn't even show the effect on the Constructor standings.

Now let's go one step further. Drivers make mistakes when there is pressure on them. Especially Lewis. Let's say Ferrari have a good race in Canada as I expect. Without Max's crashes Seb could have had close to a 50 point lead in the championship!! Think about the pressure this puts on Lewis. Perhaps he throws the car into the wall of champions. Perhaps Mercedes has to put more pressure on their engine and put it in "Party" mode. Ferrari would be dominating!

The snowball effect of this one driver's foolishness and arrogance are astounding.

Now we need a good result in Canada, to help pad the expected downturn in France and Britain when Perelli brings the Merc spec tyre back. This is so painful.

if Seb had not messed up his restart, where would he have been when Bottas cut his tire?

So Lewis and Max are controlling F Pirelli. Ferrari has to be strong. Ferrari needs Kimi on pole! Let Seb fight it out with Max and or Lewis while Kimi gets the win.

Winning most every time from pole was Seb' forte @ RB. It's not Max keeping Seb off pole or not winning from pole. Could it be the car? Is the Parc Ferm area 100% secure? Is Max getting to Seb's car?

looking around websites found some info on the PU updates.

Ferrari's new PU hoping to bring 10hp to most 15hp only, but its going to be lighter which is good

Seb will be getting the new engine, while kimi is still planned to use the older one until they can evaluate it properly
After kimi's engine failures Mattia has decided to focus on bringing less power and try to bring more reliable updated PU

Mercs are bringing new PU as well, "evo" or something, bring much more power as they have passed the reliability first six races and feel like they can turn the power up some more with the new one.
All mercs are getting the update at Canada

just saw that, very interesting if its true, will have to wait till saturday to know if they really delayed or just false rumors again, that means mercs would beable to do 7 races with the engine, perhaps they are waiting for a major power boost update thats reliable, and are willing to take the delay for one race

Mercedes and Ferrari in a similar boat. Vettel will run the new spec Ferrari PU in lower engine modes after Kimi's spec 1 reliability issues.

This is'nt about racing anymore....pathetic.

booo, perhaps that is why seb was so slow in spain in chasing down max after the 2nd pit stop, turned down engine?
