That’s more like it! We don’t want to be near the top at this stage of testing, IMHO.

Also regarding lap times above, I believe Kimi went faster on mediums all the way back on day 1 of testing, and we’ve definitely been faster on softs. Adding to that the fact that Marcus Ericsson went purple in sector one and Magnussen in sector 3, it really does show just how LITTLE speed the top teams (not only Ferrari) are willing to show right now.

I think the point about our stint times last year is relevant, but perhaps misinterpreted. Last year there was entirely different rules. Teams needed to run flat out to see if the car they’d built even worked, matched their data, etc. this year they’ve got a baseline. If they’ve improved on last years package, and the driver likes the feel, there is less need to push straight away and more reason to conceal overall pace. I think our programme this year has been quite confident. I don’t know if we’re faster than merc, but I do think we’re definitely fast. Time will tell exactly how fast.

Does anyone have a link to the Autosport Podcast? I wonder what Gary Blanderson has to say today... also, Ted’s notebook? Thanks in advance!

Seems to me, 171 laps and fastest time means that (1) we are gathering shedloads of data and (2) the car isn't a slouch. Pretty promising so far.

I think the status quo remains. I expect to see a similar season like the previous one BUT without any spark plug problems. That said, we are in for a very long nerve-wracking fight to the very end.

    PUSHING FOR THE 800
Ferrari SF71H: Sebestian Vettel during his third day of Barcelona Test 2018

That’s the distance in kilometres covered by Seb today in the SF71H

Montmelò – 171 laps of the Catalunya Circuit totals 796 kilometres. That’s the distance Sebastian Vettel reeled off in the SF71H on this the first day of the second and final pre-season test session.
This time, the weather behaved itself with air temperature reaching 15 degrees and the track hitting 26. Only wind in the afternoon affected the session.

Scuderia Ferrari set to work on the dot of 9, the car doing some laps fitted with sensors to acquire data linked to the aerodynamics. After that came some relatively long runs, switching between the Soft and Medium compound tyres. It was on the latter that Seb set his fastest time in 1’20”396, on his 66th lap.

“It was a good day’s work,” commented the driver at the end of the session. “We managed to get through our programme, even if the conditions weren’t always ideal, because of the wind.”

Tomorrow, Wednesday, testing continues with Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel.

looks like under the halo we have air passages going under the body work. Other teams are sealed up and round. Ours looks like open mouths.

Ted said nothing at all, but as usual praised Mercedes and Lewis, he even praised them on lap covered forgetting that Vettel on his own did 171 laps. As for Gary I don listen to his nonsense.

I wonder if Gary Anderson thinks Red Bull are still 1 second ahead of Ferrari and the team to beat.

Allison certainly is confident, sounds like he thinks the title is in the bag already.

    LAP TIME OCON DISALLOWED
Esteban Oco has been put back in the classifications. His fastest lap time was set after cutting the chicane, so that lapt time was disallowed.
