Pretty crappy both days due to some noddy issues. You would think a team like Mclaren would not have those issues...a wheel nut then an engine clip??? They are'nt far behind given the "dialed down" times as of years past.

Maybe Honda should be lucky being dumped by McLaren and not the other way around. Something essential is obviously missing in that team.

The curveball is the weather. Teams won't know their performance until they get to warmer temps. I kinda like the curveball. Adds a twist into who can "turn lemons into lemonade." Challenges the teams to work that much harder into bringing their A-game. Who's willing to put up or shut up. I can already hear some of the teams that do poorly blame the cold weather testing in Barcelona as "not getting a true representative of baseline performance"--->so why are the other teams doing well???.... it's the same for everybody.
    That's my 2 cents.

"It's possible that these unrepresentative conditions will mean there are problems some teams have that they won't know about until they run in warmer temperatures" - GARY ANDERSON

Gary Anderson thinks Ferrari is the car that gives our drivers the most confidence.
Ferrari look stronger then last year
Merc look the same as last year - fast but uncomfortable to drive
Also Merc have more sophisticated aero then Ferrari, however when it comes to following another car this will be better for Ferrari

Gay Anderson’s analysis that Merc aero is more “sophisticated” makes me lol. Everyone just perceives more slots and slots as sophistication. However, it is the entire package that matters. If ferrari’s overall package is more successful (yet to be seen of course, but IF) then how can it be determined that the less successful cars aero is more sophisticated?

He's kind of backtracking with that because he's now saying that the more sophisticated aero might not be the best way forward. He's suggesting Merc might struggle more in the wake of other cars.

I think that was proven last year to be honest. Also, looking at the Renault bargeboard area I would say they are some of the most complex... very fine slots and cuts. We’ll see if this “sophistication” makes it a race winner. I actually wouldn’t mind that! Would rather them than McLaren to be honest. Never forget Stepneygate!

I doubt we’ll see any running today. This sucks! Move testing out of Europe! This is useless.

For sure it looks promising but we've all been starved of F1 action over the winter so we need to accept that the testing is just that, times mean little, and those conditions make it even more irrelevant apart from testing reliability and the new tyre compounds, but even that won't give a true picture given the temperatures.

Yeah but the problem is for the smaller teams that will cost a lot of money and will make it harder to transport new parts should cancelled today's test and test on Friday when conditions are better.

First race is in Australia, ship the cars and teams out 3 weeks early. They would save money on transport to Barcelona THEN Australia. Could spend that extra money on flying development parts out to test. Today was 31 (Celsius) and sunny in Melbourne.

They (teams and Charlie) voted on cancelling today two days ago to move it Friday......one team(Williams) voted against it due to filming on Friday so......well there you have it.

Barcelona has and always been the first choice track for testing due to its fast sweeping corners. Has corners near the same as most of other tracks on the calender. Where as Melbourne, is a street track, not great place for data collection and correlation. Its a silly idea.

This, cold weather, snow is a "freak" system being blown from Russia.
