Vettel names three problems for Ferrari to solve

“We were not quick enough,” said Vettel, who trails Hamilton by 17 points in the championship.

“So, if we are not able to see that then we are more than blind, because we didn’t have the pace in the first stint.

“Second, I think we struggled a little bit over the course of the weekend with the tyres.

“They changed, but they changed for everyone, so our ambition has to be that we’re better off, rather than worse off, than everybody.

“Third, I think it was a poor weekend in terms of reliability. Kimi had an issue with the engine [change after Friday] and obviously retired in the race.

“If we don’t see those [three things] then there are no excuses.”

    Day 2 testing is DONE!!!!

    - Valtteri Bottas tops the day with a 1:16.904 only 0.068s faster then Giovinazzi.
    - TWO RED FLAGS - Kevin Magnussen (technical issue) while Norris had incorrect setting.

We really have alot of work to do. I don't know what we did wrong with Seb's car. Maybe the set-up was all wrong or too much downforce....I really don't know. I do know about Kimi's car...I mean we can put an engine back in 2hrs when both teams work together but we can't put a new engine overnight

We are going up against one of the most organized teams in all aspects and we cannot be making blunders like this. The only blunder Mercedes has made this year was some computer software having to do with the safety car...that's it (or at least I can remember). As much as I hate and loathe them, they run almost perfect!!!

Btw Vettel said that the car was exactly the same like on Sunday. No changes or updates.....

Seb's car was on the wrong setup compared to Kimi's car.

    Barcelona testing 2018

BEST LAP TIMES and COMPOUNDS used over the two days of testing in Barcelona

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DdV3MPTXUAAvZem.jpg

    also

Seb’s best time of 1’17”659 was set in the afternoon on day 1 on Soft compound tyres, of the type used at the start of the season and not in last weekend’s GP.

Well I guess the Barcelona GP was certainly stranger for Ferrari than I thought.

We can't get the new tires to work, the SS was totally off, and yet the original tires was worse.

Can't make sense of this. But hopefully, with the data gathered, Ferrari can figure out what went wrong and fix it

Add in Ferrari can't get Kimi's new engine to work. Even though the engine is not as important to Formula Pirrelli as in DNF with his tires in top shape. Perhaps SS tires would have caused less vibration and saved his engine? Or ultras could have got Kimi in the pit sooner?

...and that's the only thing that has to be said. Pathetic, Pirelli. Just pathetic. At least 10 soft compounds in a season...

Vettel's best testing time on the new soft tire was 2.5 tenths faster than his Q3 time. Still, there are other factors like track temperature and setup. I wonder if the setup was identical to the Q3 setup. I hope we pull a 1-2 lockout and a 1-2 victory in Monaco... This team needs to start winning again fast.

Followed with a 1-2 in Canada.....it better cause ill be there
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

So nothing was changed on the car from race day to testing day.

Race day he started with the soft compound(shaved compound)...fully loaded with fuel. Test day he started with the soft compound (older tyres-->not shaved)...fully loaded with fuel. He set his best time on the older soft compound on test day when compared to race day on the new softs.

Wow. My mistake. The source I looked at must have been wrong. You are right, which means that the newer tire was actually slower. Regardless, the teams should have all been given a chance to test the new tire first.

Hey! Leave Max out of this. He's Ferrari's next champion. He got podium last race. It should have been one of our current safe drivers up there. Lewis needs Max along side him!
