We're minutes away from the start of the greatest motor race in world!

It looks like it's going to be a tough one for Ferrari but it's a long race and anything can and does normally happen.

    Im here, now.

Been busy watching race and studying live timing.

#51, had small contact by a BMW into Arnage early on, causing slow puncture, lost pace, then time by doing half lap with delaminated tyre. Been speaking to good friend Sebastien who is #51 wheel gun.

#71, he said had small damage to front spliter and changed that.

Our pace? just havent got the power. Been dealt horrible deal on BoP. Bought new EVO kit for this years GTE, and at the start of the year, ACO/FIA penalised us by taking most of it off, upsetting the balance of the rear. But lets enjoy this, race try. See if can climb back up the order. GTE AM, looking good so far.

not paying attention too the 2 Toyotas. So much good racing in the LMP1 privateers, and LMP2.

GTE, is going ok, but as James said couple days ago, the Porsches are the favoured ones.

LMP1-H is a bit of a joke now tbh, but the Toyotas have got to finish yet. The privateer LMP1s racing is amazing as is LMP2. It's a shame GTE Pro is the way it is. I wouldn't blame the AF boys for feeling a bit disheartened this year.

no true, but go be hard.

Im hoping the 911s will do a Peugeot LMP1 from 2010, and all retire. Hate too say it as good friend Luca Masse who has race engineer on #51 for years is now on the #91 with Gimmi.

So far, 2 Porcshes down, 2 to go.

BMW M8 playing games throughout now getting karma paid back now. I much preferred the BMW "art car" from a few years back.

Rob? You will know which Ferrari is running in the proper Scuderia Red? I'm guessing AM car.

P.P.S. I hate that all cars have the same colour headlights!!!!

Sure Alonso may win but for me it'll be the most hollow Le Mans win in history. TBH I hope Toyota 8 has problems just to spite Fernando, he shunned Ferrari so deserves everything he gets!

Still don't understand why we seem to suffer more from the BoP penalties, seems so unfair, GTEPro 7/8th at present and Am 2nd, not what these guys deserve, but at least they're still running.

Delighted with the win at long last. Would have preferred #7, but by all accounts the #8 did a sterling job while I was asleep to cut the gap and take the lead, so fair play to them. Just as I was getting emotional though, the official stream once again broke and so here I am sharing my thoughts.

The GTE race was a farce. The FIA/ACO always seem to have an eye for history - they were very accomodating of Ford's return after their victory 50 years ago and now with Porsche's 70th anniversary. Never mind the BoP, not even weaving and pushing rival cars off the track were going to stop them today. The remainder of the championship is not worth watching. Ferrari and BMW were pushing like hell and it's no surprise that both suffered damper failures.

I find it amusing how the commentators are pleased to discuss everything and anything but have a curious lacuna when it comes to BoP. It seems like this may be the last year of prototypes and it will probably be my last season of WEC before they introduce BoP to the new hypercar category.

The safety cars also had a huge impact on the race. The fact that the Porker was able to get a couple of minutes advantage is something that needs to be looked at. I don't see any good reason they can't throw a full circuit slow zone. What benefit does the safety car actually bring? Why not put out some traffic cones instead under slow zones if there's a hazard?

Agreed, and it wasn't for lack of trying that the AF Corse boys failed to make the podium, only saving grace was that they beat the Astons and BMWs. Happy to see GIO in the lead Ferrari too and GTE Am was a much better result. Disappointed but finishing was a challenge in itself so well done to all our Ferrari teams.

From test day, i deep down knew this was going to be to be fighting for GTE PRO win. Shows that Porsche played the backroom politics well just for 70 years blah blah blah. BoP was a joke this year, Astons, didnt even get a fair chance, Vettes, ok, sort of. Fords played a good one aswell, they came good towards the ends of stints in the cooler air at night. As for us, been penalised ever since the EVO kit was introduced. FIA took most of it off, took the dive plans off, and that ruined the rear end balance, James told me the kit made great step, worked well with the rear upgrades and engine. But As soon as was off, the car he said was pretty much were it was at end of last year.

The team fought hard, and never gave up, in AM, lovely little result, and that also had Porsche playing the "game" to manufacture a win in that class too. 488s in PRO came good during the night, pace was as good as the Porsches, but thanks to the SC's splitting up the GTE field, we had no chance of clawing anything back. And, the silly regs mandating GTE Pros only can do 14 lap stints before pitting. That eliminated any sort of different strategies. Farce.

Pretty much how I feel. BoP is comical at best; there surely has to be some other way--it is not what Le Mans is about.
