I have to say I like the run-offs at Paul Ricard. Unlike gravel traps, these suckers kill tyres if you go off on them. Especially the red zone. Hopefully it doesn't happen to our guys this weekend. Knock on wood.

just hope they start enforcing track limits here. Last weekend at Le-Mans, in qualifying, few cars had their times deleted for constant abuse of track limits. If FIA/ACO can do that, why doesnt FIA do it for F1.

So how does it look like after FP1? I wasn't able to watch the whole session so I have no idea on what compounds the times were set on. I hope the times aren't showing the true pace because then it's like Barcelona again.

What did ferrari end up and how much slower? any incidents?
hockenheim 2018 / China 2018 : Never forget how quick Ferrari can lose it all, be humble.

Looking at the FP1 times is a bit worrying with Merc's new-spec engine, maybe Antonio Giovinazzi needs to get back on the simulator to bring us up to speed, or is it a case of the damn tyres again? Only FP1, of course, but we need to improve.

No worries mate, we got this in the bag.....it’s only fp1
By fp3 the car will be fully dialed in and we’ll grab POLE
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

    Yep, that chicane sucks IMO.

Yes (new engine, turbo's etc) on all Mercedes and their teams. No one knows for the moment if they are using the old spec or new spec setup on the PU's.

Glad to see Ericcson is okay and the quick reaction by the marshalls to put out the fire....that looked bad and that Sauber C37 is extra crispy.

Vettel was full one second slower, Mercedes had the fastest top speeds as well, their new upgrade is worth a few tenths.

So can anyone tell me why they didn't block off where you are not supposed to go, or at least put the foam barriers like they have in Monza into turns 1 and 2.

I was wondering that myself. There are so many configurations on this circuit that if a drivers gets a brain fade he might actually go on to the wrong one.

Typical boring Friday. Ferrari is slow on Friday, just like they always are. Nothing new.

But what is not typical is that people over here are not panicking and moaning about how Ferrari is slow and how everything is lost and there is no point of finishing this season!

It’s basically Ferrari strategy to build up to quali.

Maybe we are using spec 1 engine in less powered mode for the FP 1 and 2 ?

could be, there's a whole bunch of variables....let's hope it's nothing major in terms or performance
