2018 British GP - Practices and Qualifying

Looks to be a beautiful and hot weekend at Silverstone.

Amazing to see how many people still camp here at this track.

    Let's get setup right in FP1 & FP2.

Kimi and Seb running different rear wing config. for the moment.

NEWS: Valtteri Bottas takes fresh Mercedes power unit for British GP. This does not mean Power Unit 2 is out of service. It will be thoroughly checked and used again for the GermanGP. Valtteri Bottas will not take a penalty as we remain within the permitted contingent of components.

They don't really need it. It's upto Ferrari to bring Spec 3 which can rival Mercedes Spec 2.

    Mercedes Spec 1 > Ferrari Spec 1
    Mercedes Spec 1 = Ferrari Spec 2
    Mercedes Spec 2 > Ferrari Spec 2

Hopefully, Ferrari Spec 3 is at least equal to Mercedes Spec 2

I used to love Silverstone but this new layout is utter garbage and Silverstone without Bridge corner is ....boring...!!!

I will always remember Mika flying through Bridge in the wet (1998) and spinning the car off into the wet grass and later Michael going past when he went off again, I was there and have never cheered as much in my life, was glorious!

Yeah it does, we need him up front taking points off goldenboy.

Ferrari half a second down. well I won't panic yet, it was only FP1.

saw that on the LeClerc thread. It's a good idea. Moves up to a better car (Ferrari) and develops his race-craft...even more.

“WE CAN SCORE GOOD POINTS HERE”

British Grand Prix - “We can score good points here”

Kimi and Seb get ready for the challenge-in unusual weather conditions
    Ferrari-Media
Silverstone, July 5 – The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, and actually, very few people could have predicted that the Silverstone event would have started under blue skies and Mallorca-like temperatures. These conditions should last through the weekend and Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, are enjoying the sunshine and preparing for battle.

“It’s difficult to know which team will dominate this weekend”, says Kimi. “If you look at the past years our rivals did very well, but I don’t think that we ever had this kind of weather here at Silverstone and this will probably make some difference. The track is supposed to have a new surface; what will it bring, nobody knows. We will find out over the weekend. There are a lot of differences from the past years, so let’s wait and see. Last year we were not too bad here and speed wise we were stronger than in the previous years. We were running in a pretty solid second position before we had a tire issue. Obviously there are many factors that might affect or help us over the weekend. I think that if we can put things where we want them to be and do our best we can score good points”.

For his part, Seb added: “This track may not see us as favourites, but with regard to last year I think our car has more potential: it’s up to us to find the way to get the most out of it. The season so far has been filled with ups and downs, but there’s always the chance to do well. We can’t say yet which way the championship is going on, but, obviously, it all depends on the big steps in terms of performance; we have our plan and we’ve been working very hard”.

Brembo is right in one thing, Max is a future champion, what happened to him right now is just bad luck, anybody could have finished on the wall with that cold hard tires.

So far Ferrari is matching the Mercs pace. Just a tenth down from Hammy's time in Fp1
