We seem to be losing heaps of time in S2 and S3 when compared to RB. We only pull away in S1.

I think Seb didn't optimise the S3. Look at Kimi S3. So there must be still more time to come from Seb.

Could be traffic, since he doesn’t seem to be able to get a clean lap in.

Stability-wise both qualifying simulations looked pretty good. Even though we might have lost some of the time advantage on this circuit compared to last year maybe there is still enough of an advantage to be ahead. Still some time off last year's pole but Merc seem to be even more behind compared to last year. I think they've already acknowledged their one-lap pace and will try to go for one-stoppers.

As I have arrived couple of hours ago in Budapest I was not at the track today. Looking at the results I would say good Friday work. After huge dissapointment week ago, SV needs to win this one and KR has to finish 2nd. On top of that, to take as much as possibe points away from Mercedes, Red Bulls must be 3rd and 4th!

Quick question. I haven't really been caught up on F1 news lately except for the big news. When will Ferrari bring their Spec 3 engine?

    Via ESPN F1

Some interesting stuff to look out for this weekend on the engine side. Haas and Sauber have fitted new parts to all four of their cars, confirming reports this week of both moving to the newest Ferrari upgrade. The factory team will not take the upgrade until after the summer break, in time for the power-sensitive Spa-Francorchamps and Monza circuits, but yesterday U.S. magazine Racer reported the upgrade is expected to worth up to 40 brakehorsepower. If that figure is accurate, it represents another very impressive step forward for Ferrari with the engine now considered to be the benchmark in F1.

    fingers crossed

WE HAVE TO FOCUS ON THE JOB”
    ferrari-media

Seb and Kimi: not an easy Friday, but “technically one of the best”

Mogyorod – The best way for Scuderia Ferrari to honor the late Sergio Marchionne and endure the tragic events of this week is to focus on the job we have to do this weekend. Both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen are well aware of this and the whole team did their best in the first day of practice at the Hungaroring, an effort resulting in a convincing pace in both the fast laps and the long runs. But it’s only Friday and the real challenge will begin tomorrow on the hot, 4.381 kilometre-long track just a few miles from Budapest.

“I was pretty happy in the afternoon” Seb said “more than in the morning session, as I think the car is performing well also over one lap. We can still improve, but this has been one of the best Fridays so far, technically speaking. Having a great amount of work ahead of us is probably the best thing for keeping our mind busy and getting through the weekend. It’s not easy, but I focused on the job to do. On this track, the qualifying session and the start are very important and can make the difference because overtaking is very difficult. Getting ahead after the first couple of corners is crucial, but there’s a lot of work to do before getting to that point”.

“It was a very normal Friday”, Kimi commented “trying things and learning as much as possible. The conditions were not very easy in many ways, but it’s normal on a Friday. We don’t really pay too much attention to the lap times, they really don’t count in a practice session. For sure we still have some work to do, but it was not too bad and the car worked as we expected. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll have the speed we need”.

Guys, those college of sport comissioners helped Ham On last race. That must have been a huge penalty

Top3 teams on same line now. So if mercs feels they don’t have pace for pole, they would quali on softs.
While RB & Ferrari would go for US.

Great Photos!! Thanks always! I read some news where they slipped and reported something about Giovanazzi ! He did a drive for Leclerc. I'm glad to know he's doing well and someday... he will be in a Ferrari.
