I think technical team under Mattia Binotto is strong enough to counter anything Merc throws at them.

Nope and no, Mercedes did NOT do that last year. All teams shut down and spend time with family and friends during the summer break.

My worst nightmare is Mercedes clawing back the development gap during this break, after lucking out the past 2 races when we had the advantage.

but what if it rains some more? they need to have a solution for wet weather or else all tracks where ferrari could have a good chance of winning will be doing damage limitation like today

Mine too!! i kinda hate this break, i feel they will find out how ferrari got the power advantage that somehow disappeared around canada and spain and then came back at austria

I'm afraid Brundle has become senile before his time.

Well I think you will find that given how incredulous the merc and reno have been about our engine steps they been well caught off.
    Also we won't stand still.
If you look at the development rate through the season we are well ahead. I am sure we got plenty more up our sleeves.

    Not huge considering below factors,

    1) ferrari fastest car
    2) season unpredictability
    3) Kimis form
    4) next tracks favours Ferrari more than mercs.

That's not even a penalty in my eyes. He finished P5 and stays P5, suffers no consequence whatsoever.

24 points isn't a big gap with 3 races to go. So with 9 it is very manageable.
Lets not forget all those years when Alonso was ahead of Seb going into the summer.

You shouldn't expect much from Mercedes International Assistance, if it was Vettel making contact with Bottas and Ricciardo, he would be disqualified and slapped 5 license points.

good points, but Mercedes do have the better package in the wet it seems.
I'm not being negative, but racing in the rain is also part of F1 and who knows how many more wet grand prix we could have.

    It is a standard pen.
    It is OK.
Important thing is that mercs cant take the high ground when it comes to running into people

Nope. He impeded Lewis' main rival. He would probably get a free steak dinner from the FIA, and his leftover bones will be given to Bottas in turn. 2 birds, 1 stone.
