I no longer believe it's 80% 20% car to driver with regards to who's on first. Seb had the car. R Bull had the driver. Merc had both together.
Verstappen was a huge flop in the first part of the season, he wouldn't have won the WDC in a Ferrari or a Mercs for that matter. He showed his class in the 2nd part but that was just enough for 4th in the WDC. Lewis showed that for one to win a WDC, one needs speed but most important consistency. Seb and Max had the speed but not the consistency. Kimi was the only one who had consistency but he lacked a bit of speed and those 4 DNFs by no fault of his own didn't help. Hamilton had the car, the speed and the consistency in results, plus a rear gunner.

totally agree...and i bet dollars to donuts that he's gonna have that support from bottas a.k.a the butler into 2019 as well....

Seb better smarten up charge his batteries over the winter because in NO WAY he's gonna have a rear gunner from LeClerc.....and maybe worse....i'm really hoping that the new youngster is gonna show the FAKE 4 time WDC a thing or two....or better yet, WIPE the floor with him....

LeClerc's got SPEED, TALENT....all he needs is a good and fast car that's a match for Mercedes....

i know it's early days.....but let's hope Ferrari will present both our drivers with an AWESOME CAR
...the new SF90 in the MATTE RED, to me it looks amazing. Let's hope it's gonna be as FAST as it looks.

If MA is replaced by Binotto hopefully we get team orders early in the season

worried that if we focus on straights again with longer wheelbase .we'l suffer exactly as we did last year even worse, losing half seconds in any twisty sections nullifying any advantage gained down the straight and destroying tyres at the same time, even conventional tracks have parts with tight cornering which we will suck at again like 2018 so yeah wish they focus more on suspension and downforce without comprise to top speed and acceleration instead

F1 | Turnaround at Ferrari home: Arrivabene greetings, Binotto new team principal
Revolution at the top of the Scuderia di Maranello

Clashing turnaround in the Ferrari house for what concerns the helm of the Sports Management. As reported by 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' during the day today, the Scuderia di Maranello would have chosen to entrust the technical and managerial management of the team to Mattia Binotto, promoting it as a team principal.

Yeah, aero is missing. Straight line speed and efficiency is good but those twisty sections created issues. Let's hope Ferrari will present a more all round car in a few weeks time.

I like it, Binotto has to be better than MA, can’t see anyone worse than him. Moreover Binotto has produced an excellent car, give him more power

Notice how, once again, Elkann had to step in and make the move (Arrivabenne to Binotto).

Even Camilleri(Marlboro) coud'nt save the Marlboro man from getting axed.

I'm a bit confused about Ferrari's state at the moment. They are a private company right? But why is the chairman of FCA still the chairman of Ferrari? I know both Ferrari and FCA are owned by the Agnelli clan though - Exor.

Say it like it is, WCC not just WDC. Or better yet both. Car and driver, driver and car both count big time! Let's hope Leclerc; now with the big boys doesn't crack under pressure. Thinking pole before the race is going to be new to him, meaning he's in the car that can do it.

Well said ! As you say; Lewis and his car have what's most important, consistency. Kimi not his car for sure had the consistency So Ferrari kicks him out? If Kimi would have called in sick and not drove the car on those 4 DNFs maybe he would still be with the team. Kimi also had no rear gunner, Seb mistakenly thought he was the #1 driver. Seb well aware of Leclerc's F-1 record and consistency so far; will for sure move over and let him race to win. No matter what; Ferrari come 2019 will still have the best paint job of all the cars . Red is where it's at !!
With Lewis doing 7 WDCs and say 100 poles in the future , what driver if any can get in his way? Second half threat is too late , it's those 1st three races that says it all.
But for 2 pts. Max almost turned his huge flop of a year into a 3rd. place finish only to be behind 2 WDC champions, so throw in a third WDC champion with Kimi. He will turn 22 this year; he better hurry up! As terrible a year as Max had; he finished 79 points ahead of Dan. I am anxious as can be waiting to see if it will be Charles or Max that will reek havoc on Lewis and Merc! Or who knows? Maybe Kimi !!

Interesting. I'm sure others will follow suit or already in the pipeline. Redbull first started this "rim tech" on the RB13(2017) (pic) then Mercedes adopted it (pic 2) for 2018 mid season and took it one step further by drilling holes in the hub.

Pirelli said they've taken care of the blistering with the 2019 tires.

Mid season against the likes of Merc is the same as the end of the year as far as chances of catching up go. Why not spend $$ and be ready from the first race on. Give it their best shot . I'm sure the drivers know how close to the other teams their equal car chances are .

Interesting, and here I thought there were no jobs opened in F1...let alone Mclaren. Well the car is pretty much done for 2019 so maybe mid-season we'll see something...MAYBE.
