    Question Monaco GP

    Hi

I am no longer a regular poster here (some may even be happy :)), but I do visit these pages quite often still. So I know, this is great compilations of fans of our team and the sport. So there is probably not a better place for my question... I am heading to Monaco GP this year, so I'd like to ask anyone who was there for any tips, where to go, how pitlane works here, which stand/s is/are the one/s to chose, how (if only as the ceremony is different here obviously) to get on the track after the race... anything would be appreciated :)

Also... anyone else going as well? Would be great to meet some Tifosi :)

Here are some suggestions from some fellow members of mine. It's gotten so over-crowded through the years that some "regulars" take the train into Monaco and stay at nearby towns. Thursday are free practices. Remember Friday is rest day so you can take in the sites and sounds or go pit walking if possible.

enjoy it if you go. Take alot of pics and possibly share it with theScuderia.net.

[2018] Get a hotel or nice AirBnB outside the principality in a location that allows you to take a short train ride into Monaco each day. A lot of the journalists do this. For viewing, I'd recommend stand B (Casino Square and easily the best for qualifying) or stand V (Anthony Noghes, the last corner, which is also handy for the train station). And be prepared for the most obnoxious cops of any F1 race.

[2018] If it has to be a grandstand ticket get one at Swimming Pool complex (M N O P stands). The speed these cars carry through Swimming pool 1 (the left right) is one of the most impressive things you'll ever see.

[2018] Hotels: Almost all rooms in town are booked year-to-year by the teams for their personnel (or by people like me who have a standing relationship with a hotel), and are much pricier than usual during race week. All require a minimum stay- usually 3-5 days. Staying in town is vastly preferable to staying in Nice or elsewhere, as you get a first-hand look at how the atmosphere builds day-by-day as Sunday approaches. Having said all that, there are nearby French towns within walking distance, such as Beausoleil, Cap d'Ail, etc., but rooms there are rare and expensive too during this period.
Seats: I prefer a high row in the K grandstands, but I'd guess they're already filling up fast- bought my seats the day they went on sale a couple of months ago. The view from there is pretty panoramic, and if you're in a high enough row of K1, K2 K3 you can see from just after the exit of the tunnel down to the swimming pool complex. Caveat: the top 4 rows are now sold separately and command a premium price- about $1,400 each for a three-day ticket.

[2018] "The views into the pits for non-VIP ticket holders are especially good - when you stroll down there on Friday."
Actually, although the Friday afternoon pit walk is still available, when it was open to anyone with a ticket for the race or for qualifying it got so crowded that it was of little value, As a result, as of 2018 it's now open to a smaller sub-set of people, and is much better- the catch is that now you need to buy a Gold or Silver Package (or have access otherwise) in order to qualify.
It's not how start but how you finish.

Thanks a lot! I am going for a full weekend so yeah, hopefully I'll have ton of pics even from the pitlane :) The hotel and transport is arranged, so that's great based on what you're saying (how crowded it is over there). I was actually thinking about goinf for the K stand, but was aiming for the lower seats as I did worry if the higher ones wouldn't bee too "disconnected" from the cars, being too far. Isn't that an issue? As well as deciding about the K1, 2, 3 to see from the tunnel exit and tabac, or K7 to be directly at the Swimming pool 1, which I hold as one of the greatest places in F1 period.

Great advices all around, thanks :))

    you welcome

as far as seating with regards to lower seating and higher seating, it all has to do with the fencing (preventing cars or debris from hitting people). I would go for higher seating because you get to see the cars coming as opposed to them actually being right in front of you in the lower seating. The fencing prevents seeing from a distance as you can only here them coming. It all depends on where this fencing is, usually on high speed areas. just my 2 cents.

Yeah, you're right. The fencing kinda annoyed me every time, I was at the race and seeing the cars from close distance will be possible during practice as that's when you can sit whenever you want. So yeah, going for the higher ones :) Your 2 cents are priceless.
