    Would have been worse if both the engine and chasis were weakpoints.

    It's also a good sign that Ferrari are actually now able to create a more powerful engine than Mercedes.

    The car isn’t a turd, it’s all down to tires and tire management. These tires don’t suit our car so we can’t exploit it’s full potential.

    I agree with the management part. As far as Ferrari not able to get the tires right esp. which ones to start the race with according to each track is incredible ! How is it that R Bull can some how work with the tires better than Ferrari can?

    Obsessed with Who ??? I don't want Lewis WDC, but fans here saying every possible thing bad about him and how he can't drive worth a dump, sparks me up. I'll stop there or my obsession will kick in! I really have tremendous respect for Charles and how great he's doing racing against all odds! That includes Ferrari not giving him 100% backing. He talks about how the races went driving wise; and the moves he made etc. not the same tire bull crap.

    As the writer says, the frustrating thing is that while Merc are mega dominating this season, they keep developing their car like crazy, AND we that we lack pace BIG TIME, we are just scratching our heads all year and we present a cut here and there a couple of times??!!!!
    Unless we have find something special but we see that we cant use it this year on SF-90 and we are working for next year AND especially for 2021, well things doesnt look good at all. Right now we are looking so little against Merc guys and even RBR.

    For the remainder of 2019 Ferrari must due all they can to get Charles on pole. Then get the tire changes right and Charles, the team and the fans will have our wins !! At least one will do for the moment, which will be Germany. It can't be that Ferrari is in that bad a state they can't give this boy a car to do a pole.

    "The front wing of Ferrari reduces Vettel's performance"

    Sebastian Vettel has had a rough 2019 Formula 1 season. Gary Anderson, a designer of the first Jordan Formula 1 car, believes the Ferrari front wing is hampering Vettel's race day performance. Anderson says Vettel can't deal with any understeer, something which the mechanics must reduce.

    "Vettel is a great driver, but he needs a car that is perfect for him. If the car is anything else, it will drop out. At Silverstone, you saw all the top drivers such as Hamilton and Verstappen push the borders, but Sebastian no longer," Anderson explained to Motorsport.com.

    "The Ferrari tends to understeer, but that is something that Vettel cannot deal with. He was the king with the double diffuser, but he cannot keep up with the current era."

    During the winter tests in Barcelona, Ferrari's Formula 1 car seemed the strongest. One of their assets, which Mercedes had a different design of, was the front wing during. But through the season, Anderson believes the front wing has let them down. During practice sessions in recent Grands Prix, Ferrari has tried different options.

    "I think that is under-steering due to the front wing. Mercedes has taken a much bigger step in the winter, generating much more downforce. Ferrari can solve this, but it will take a lot of time again," Anderson concludes.

    Ferrari admit windtunnel and track data deviations have hurt 2019 car

    Ferrari's 2019 car has been hampered by issues replicating windtunnel performance on track, Mattia Binotto claims.

    The Scuderia had to re-evaluate their development strategy for the SF90 at the post-Spanish GP test, as a lack of downforce left them trailing Mercedes with Red Bull also now threatening to overtake.

    However, while some improvement has been made, it hasn't been a smooth process with new parts also failing to deliver the anticipated results.

    “What we can tell you is that, in specific conditions, there only have been, it’s wrong to say miscorrelations but let me say we didn’t have at the track what we were expecting from the wind tunnel,” Ferrari boss Binotto explained at Silverstone.

    “In Paul Ricard, we had a new floor that didn’t work but other components that were left on the car were positive.

    “In Austria, we did some measurements, tried to understand the issue and understand what went wrong with the floor.

    “We are introducing important and significant items from the test itself and now at least we understood why it didn’t work and from now on we obviously need to progress and improve.”

    Binotto has also warned against expecting a sudden improvement in performance, claiming the results will be more gradual.

    “I think the development is a continuous development,” he said.

    “After Barcelona, which was probably our weakest performance of the year so far, we introduced several changes and modifications in the car and also in Paul Ricard, in Austria and we got more modifications here [at Silverstone].

    “It’s a continuous development. It’s not that we’ve left our car from Spain and there will be an upgrade on the car later. It’s already improved.”

    Because the car can’t get the tires on the optimum operating window, it is a turd.

    They built another dud guys. Come on! Why can’t you just admit that Ferrari failed. Yet again.

    ^this....totally agree....100% TURD.....ferrari keps blaming it on tires, yet the Merc have had no issues.....WHY, because they have a more downforce and becaue of that able to work the tires better and keep them in the operating window
    So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

    Ferrari bosses need to tell their drivers, anything less than a podium is equal to a DNF. if you start 6th pl. or better ! Push what you have to drive; the limit, we Ferrari fans need a win!!!

    "No special changes for German Grand Prix," confirms Ferrari boss Binotto

    Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has confirmed there will be "no special changes" for the German Grand Prix this weekend despite another disappointing weekend at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago.

    The Maranello-based squad go into the race STILL without a win in Formula 1 all season. After a strong race in Austria, with Charles Leclerc very unfortunately having his first win disappear, Ferrari failed to keep up its momentum going into the race in Britain.

    Binotto has confirmed that there will be "no special changes" going into Sebastian Vettel's home-race in Germany at the weekend.

    Yep, fastest (but not quite best overall) car should equal plenty of podiums. But it won't happen if Charles is hampered by the team in any way just to help Seb, as Seb has unfortunately shown that even with advantages he often finds interesting ways to screw it up.

    Very well said....Seb needs almost a perfect car for him to deliver, like in the red bull days when Newey built him some rocket ships....in a not so good car he’s nowhere.....unlike the likes of Alonso where he put those ferrari’s in places where on merit they shouldn’t have been.....especially in 2012 where the car started so bad

    Ofcourse we will not have anything new. And the times that they say that we will ,they present some cuts here and there and we call it upgrates. It's not that we need them anyway!!we leave the hole "in season development " thing ,first small teams like Merc and RBR that they need desperately to find some performance!!!

    Binotto is useless imo, arrivabene was perfect mix of passion and execution apart from the one mistake he made not giving priority to Vettel pin crucial situations i.e. Monza, Garmany etc.. Also if our driver didn't make mistakes or kept it to zero driver errors we could have possibly won the championship last year but as far as this year goes, the team has I don't think pushed in all areas they've designed a car purely for straights but they should have designed a car which is a mix of straights, high speed medium speed and low speed corners also and take that into consideration.

    Hardly surprising. Our midseason development have always been disappointing. Just compare launch spec Mercedes with the current one, the current Merc is completely different than what they had in Barcelona pre-season testing. And what's even more depressing is that they have brought new floor, new mirror and mirror supports and updated sidepods for the German GP.

    And now compare current spec SF90 with pre-season spec SF90, hardly any difference.

    I believe Merc and R Bull, with Honda's $$ help to boot, are the Biggest $$ teams now in F-1. They could build a new car for every race if they wanted to $$ wise. Ferrari is not there as far as $$ to spend, and out of what they do have they gave most of it to Seb!! ! Merc and Honda just in their car sales alone can support their F-1 team No need to try to figure out how much R Bull can spend. Fiat and Shell are not the name of the team, it's called Ferrari. They will go just so far with supporting their F-1 team. The name Marlboro across the whole car is gone forever . Ferrari's "Cuts" here and their and lack of upgrades are I believe do to not having or not willing to spend any more in the F-1 team. Win or lose as far as WCC, Ferrari will always be the top name among F-1 fans . Count me in on that !

    May be the Ferrari tested in Barcelona winter testing is for next year's development and the current sf 90 is a spin off purely as a test mule.Would not surprise me if Ferrari had no real intention of winning this year probably realising that Mercedes was a little out of reach.The current SF90 is from the arrivabene era.Mr Binnotto inherited the current car.The Barcelona test car is hidden in maranallo. Mr Binnotto could well be smarter than we think.

    Even though Mercedes lead the Formula 1 world championship and have only lost one Grand Prix across the 2019 season, the German team are showing no signs of taking their foot off the gas.

    Earlier in the week, it was confirmed Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas would race with a new chassis. But after the first pictures of the weekend emerge, it looks like the new chassis isn't the only upgrade on the Silver Arrow.

    The Mercedes crew, who will be competing in their home Grand Prix, have started to build the car up ahead of the German Grand Prix weekend. Formula 1 journalist Tobi Grüner from Auto Motor und Sport has taken some sneaky photos.

    The open rear mirrors seem to be making a return this weekend. This was introduced at Barcelona but wasn't present at Silverstone. The sidepods have extra slots which might also aid cooling as well as extra downforce.

    The Silver Arrows struggled with the heat in the Austrian Grand Prix and high temperatures are once again forecast for the German Grand Prix this weekend.

    Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has confirmed that the Scuderia will bring no significant upgrades to their car at the German Grand Prix.

    Rivals Mercedes are reportedly bringing a chassis upgrade to Hockenheim, which will solve the cooling issues that hampered them in Austria, while Red Bull have made significant gains in recent races thanks to a new front wing.


    Binotto says that, while Ferrari will not bring new parts to this weekend's race, they have enough data to pore over from Silverstone a fortnight ago to make significant improvements.

    "We are not bringing any specific updates, but studying the data from the last round in Silverstone has provided us with useful information in our quest to get a better understanding of our car," he said.

    Didn’t we have the same Bridgestone tires in 2005 as we did in 2004? If so what was the handicap that we were not that good in 05

    Mercedes ‘big favourite’ for German GP – Vettel

    Sebastian Vettel says Mercedes is the “big favourite” to win at Hockenheim this weekend.

    It is the under-fire Ferrari driver’s home German GP, but after boss Mattia Binotto said there are no updates for the 2019 car, Vettel is playing down his chances.

    A year ago, Vettel was on the way to victory at Hockenheim before the first big mistake of his troubled period saw him crash out.

    “I was extremely angry at myself but that’s forgotten now,” the German told Auto Bild.

    “Actually, if I see it today, the way I dug into the gravel and then punched the steering wheel so furiously, I have to smile.

    “I made a small mistake with big consequences,” Vettel added.

    But one year on, Vettel doesn’t like his chances of rectifying that mistake this weekend.

    “You should never say never, and I’ll give everything as always, but realistically Mercedes is the big favourite,” he said.

    “I am not feeling the rear of the car at the moment, and for me that means I am missing confidence,” added Vettel.

    Former F1 designer Gary Anderson agrees that it is the Ferrari car that mostly explains Vettel’s current slump.

    “Vettel is without question a top driver,” he said, “but he needs a car that suits him.

    “The Ferrari seems to tend to understeer, which some drivers like or can handle, but I don’t think Vettel is one of them.”

    Anderson continued: “Ferrari need to try to help Vettel, but it will be difficult because I get the impression the problem is with the front wing, and that’s not easy to change.”
