Right now, it's obvious our car lacks mechanical grip, which is bad for S3.

But Barcelona also rewards downforce, we should be pretty good in S1 and 2.

last and only time Seb won here was in 2011, fair to say it's not his best track.

He did pretty well in 2017 leading the race by 8 seconds when an unfortunate VSC period gifted Hamilton the win.

    still, compared to other champions,
Prost and Hakkinen 3 time winners, Kimi 2 time winner, Mansell 3 time winner, etc.

Unfortunately I think this track is more suitable for Mercedes than Ferrari so I will expect another very tiresome 1-2 but surely they are due some bad luck????? Everything always falls good for them. I think Lewis signed deal with the devil as I never saw a race driver so very very very luckyall the time.

He is lucky indeed, but what we are seeing now is as much a Mercedes success as it is a Ferrari failure. As I have said in previous threads, I think the failure of Ferrari to win is cultural. A Formula 1 team needs to be lead by an ruthlessly cunning Type-A with an iron fist, I am afraid Ferrari hasn't had that since 2006/8 and it shows in the results.

which means we're going to do a lot more races on this spec 2 engine..
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Gotta try something. It's a double edged sword or damned if you do, damned if you don't. Will more than likely bite us in the end (grid penalties).

If the Merc's don't bring anything and we still have a hard time during quali then the race........like I said, we got a long season ahead.

I just hope Leclerc can try to extrapolate anything he can when he can......it's all about me, me, me at this point if things go south. Run your race.
It's not how start but how you finish.

Maybe they can avoid grid penalties if they use old spec in races like Monaco, Hungary and Singapore. But I think it's good they go all in. Merc have 4 1-2 in the first 4 races, there is not much Ferrari can lose.

Now there is nothing to lose. Even if there are penalties, it is worth trying.

I don't understand. Isn't the engine supposed be this car's crown jewel?

    Disappointed Since 2010

They are bringing upgrades so it remains crown jewel.

Unlike Vettel, who can throw away gifted wins. Like Bahrain this year. And Vettel has won lucky wins as well.

While I admire the "more power!!" attitude from the PU lads, aero/chassis have to dramatically improve if Ferrari are to have any hope of the title this year. Being a distant 3rd best in cornering isn't good enough.

Any improvement in any sector is good. I would love for us to have the best engine by far. Like Enzo said "aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines", so a top engine is at the very core of what Ferrari means and should be. Of course times have changed and aero is very important, but nonetheless the engine is still a huge part of the car.

That's precisely what I admire, but times have changed and it's not going to be enough. Baku was supposed to favour Ferrari yet they came away with another 3rd/5th finish. It's just not enough.

We are somewhat tied with Mercedes for the best engine. I was talking about a 0.5s ahead of others and we would be winning despite our poor aero.

Wait ! Charles in the lead! No move over Seb is faster than you! Oh no! Seb on wrong tires ;falls back. Lewis up by 2 seconds at the flag, Max 3rd on the podium!! How can that be ; his engine is a Honda? The races are great win or lose there's always that hope of the line! Max rather than either Merc, YES !

Ferrari faster in quali mode, but not able replicate that come qualifying.
Mercs fastest in Race pace in all 4 races.
