    ham 1:16:6 c4

Hamilton beats the third fastest time on the C4 Pirelli: 1: 16.628 minutes.

16.628 from Hamilton on C4s. That puts the cat among the pigeons. It's quicker than Ferrari have done on that tyre and - depending on the tyre off-set, which are variable from car to car - is arguably quicker than they have done on the C5, too

LeClercs 17.1 yday on the C2 looks even more impressive when you factor in tyre offset

Will Mercedes still get the C5 tires out of the electric blankets? Then the Vettel time could fall. "We value the difference in half a second," says Pirelli's Mario Isola. "But you have to treat him well, so as not to break in the last sector. Actually, the C5 is too soft for this track."
looks like we were kinda right about c5 @S1000RR

Good it happened here and not in Melbourn. That's what testing is all about. Push the car to max in every aspect and see what could possibly go wrong.

1:16.224 hamilton , looks like the lies are showing from merc (ham last sector 25.9) 0.2s quicker

from 0.5s to 0.3 to 0.003 lol in two days sure, they will sell that hard to British media how they are underdogs fighting the fight being far behind

Was Vettel at maximum? Was Ham at maximum? We will only know in Melbourne.

I get the feeling Merc held nothing back to get that time... They needed to raise the team moral slightly

I Think the Ferrari might just have the edge on the Merc, but t seems Ferrari were able to get the faster lap out of the car very quickly, Merc had to dial the car in over several days.

Also Merc had a. Massive update, when is their next update due? Therefore Ferrari mght have stuff in the pipelne to bring.

Don't forget, leclerc said we could go faster if we wanted to so its not the ultimate pace

Torro Rosso is only 0.6s adrift and matching Vettlel time in sector 1.These times mean nothing. This is far from the maximum performance of Ferrari and Mercedes

I strongly believe Ferrari is not running with all the upgrades. Look at the mirrors for example, last year they had the so vastly copied aero concept which now teams like RedBull are using. The ones being used for testing look too simple to be a final setup. Come Melbourne we will see a few new parts am pretty sure so more to come...

Yes, but this year I think teams like toro Rossi, Renault, mclaren, Alfa will be closer to Ferrari and Mercedes

The only time that stood out from these 8 days of testing is Sebastian Vettel's 1.16.7 on C3 (Softs).

Just when you think you have seen it all and read it all, someone in PlanetF1 comment section wrote that Mercedes new nose looks like penis.

The world champion just crossed in a 1:16.224, just 0.003s slower than Vettel... That's on the C5 tyre.

Hamilton and Mercedes have done a lot of downplaying of their own machinery this week, insisting Ferrari is quite a way ahead. We obviously don't have an accurate gauge on the gap, we don't know fuel loads and set-up etc, but we hadn't seen that sort of pace from Mercedes until then.

Merc have been sandbagging as usual. I believe we are a lot closer if not on par with them this year, but the .5 sec advantage is a fairy tale.

I still think vettel/Charles & ferrari can do high 1.15’s on the C5 tyre. It’s just the tyres didn’t last long.
If they push in S1&S2, S3 would be ruined. On this track it shows C5 is not the best tyre Choice, as drivers need to take it easy in S1 to get maximum out of S2 & S3.

I'm sure we all realise the times are just an indication at this stage and HAM sticking in a quickie just behind Seb is only to be expected. Our biggest worry at present seems to be reliability and although the engine itself seems reliable, there are other problems with exhausts, electrics and disintegrating wheels, so whatever speed we can show in Melbourne won't matter unless we can finish the race. Binotto's team have done a great job with the car overall, Seb and Charles have both shown that, let's pray that we can make reliability as bullet-proof as Merc usually are.
