Red alert on the Winter Timesheet
This is how it looks at the top of the combined winter times now...
1. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, Day Seven, 1:16.231, C5 tyres
2. Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari, Day Eight, 1:16.352, C5 tyres
3. Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes, Day Eight, 1:16.561, C5 tyres
4. Alex Albon, Toro Rosso, Day Seven, 1:16.882, C5 tyres
5. Carlos Sainz, McLaren, Day Eight, 1:16.913, C5 tyres
Lets wait to see what Lewis will do this afternoon, I am sure he will want to put it all on the line to get some glory...
Can any one get Vettel’s sector times 1.16.532 vs 1.16.333??
Calm down Seb...
The rat will say Ferrari are fastest no matter what times he pulls. Come the checkered flag in Australia; if he wins he will still say we are faster and his pole/win are down to his godlike qualities and devine intervention lol. Anything to feed his ego.
Encouraging times from our boys...Australia can’t come fast enough. Let’s hope we really do hold an advantage and rack up plenty of points!!
~FORZA FERRARI~
Good lap count from the Ferrari today
Vettel sets new Winter Testing best!
That Ferrari just keeps on getting faster.
Another stint and this time a time which is marginally faster than Charles Leclerc's from yesterday.
Vettel jumps to the head of the combined testing timesheet with a 1:16.221.
Vettels ideal lap time is 1.16.040
Sky sports on Lewis
He doesn't recall Ferrari having this big an advantage - he says half a second - before
- He said it looks like Ferrari started developing a month before Mercedes, possibly a month. "We don't mind a challenge. We've got a hill to climb but we know how to do it."
- No plans to change concept of W10 but he says Ferrari may have right philosophy. W10 not performing optimal at testing.
- No reasons to expect 0.5s margin to come down for Melbourne. It could go up, it could go down.
1.16.221 from Seb now
Charles (yesterday): 21.648 28.296 26.222
1.16.221 was 3L stint
Seb just did a 1m16.720s on C3!! Tyre corrected, it's 1m15.5s
Remember full power mode can give us anything upto half a second from q2 to q3
So 1m16.720 on C3 and almost matched his S3 time, not bad, not bad at all.
Red Flag - Kimi
With all this going on I can imagine Merc scheming with the FIA and Pirelli again like last year:
"Lets change the tires to suit us; oh Ferrari have two batteries, lets put sensors on their car to slow it down... !!"
That was their strategy last year.
