Ferrari CEO boosting F1 investment for 2020, 2021

Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri is “increasing investments” into the Maranello marque’s Formula 1 team for the future.

That is the news of the authoritative Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, as Ferrari prepares to tackle the forthcoming two high-speed circuits at Spa and Monza.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff thinks the red cars will be highly competitive at those circuits, thanks to a “very strong engine and less drag”.

Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said on Tuesday: “We are more motivated than ever to do well in the second part of the season, starting right now this weekend.”

And that motivation is also intact for 2020 and 2021, with Corriere della Sera revealing that CEO Camilleri is determined to tackle certain areas where Ferrari has fallen behind.

“Among the priorities is the simulator, as the current one is ten years old,” said correspondent Daniele Sparisci.

“And some engineers specialising in vehicle dynamics and tyre management will also come, while some have already arrived,” he added.

The report said top designer Simone Resta will then rejoin Ferrari in November following his brief stint at Alfa Romeo, where he will head the 2021 project for the new rules.

Rip it out and build a new one stop the renovations. Then this will help remove correlations issues.Out with the old and in with the new.

Yup, better one time big spending that works then spending money on short terms that doesn't provide the wanted improvements.

That sounds encouraging. It's good to bring in new people with fresh ideas.

One guy will come into forum & post “no development on car is needed, just give a steering wheel, 3 tyre car to our drivers & cut their pay, we will finish 1-2” this is what he generally says in every thread so far. Because mad max is doing the same it seems

It seems to be that the only long standing thing about Ferrari is the name. Everyone there comes and goes to the point that their like a new team in F-1. Just starting out. Down force just can't be that hard to get the way Seb needs it. Race after race , the same problem.

Sure Ferrari is a legendary competitor in F1. But despite we are not winning championships, we still are challenging and winning races. And I am confident our team will be on top in the future. But I do agree aero development is slow at Ferrari. However our engine department is on top of Mercedes. So that's a good thing.

Yes obviously it's good news Camilleri says these kind of things but it's still the shareholders who will tell him what to do. Throw away that God-damned simulator. It doesn't work. Never have. It's basicly a PC game. It's just a waste of time and power (which is a cost). You get all data from the race weekends now. Instead try and convince FiA and Liberty to open tests for all teams at Fiorano or Mugello. Every team will have its own garage and run as much as they want and Pirelli better supply that rubber. I swear it will be cheaper. No joke. If the cars and gear are there only the petrol will be a cost. Every team can have a mule present at Fiorano. OK, if you don't want that in Italy because of bias then do it in the UK instead. Same set up for everyone.

If simulators and wind tunnels would be scrapped and real, physical testing would be brought back (in the above scenario), then THAT IS COST SAVING. No joke. How is this so hard to understand. That's how it was done before, years ago. Real testing in open air.

Even if they spend billions in facilities, at the end of the day, we need top people who can work in a harmonious and politics free environment.

We lost good people to Mercedes in the past due to internal bickering and buck/blame passing. No used crying over it, however they should make sure they remove the toxic environment first, before spending money on facilities. Otherwise it would be futile.

Even Kimi had something to say about it. Imagine Kimi, the cool cat and a man of very few words, did not let it pass. That is how bad it has been.
