    Are we back to Alesi / Berger era?

    What is happening to a great team like Ferrari? How come, that from one season to another you will loose all the glory? It's like we are back to Alesi / Berger era, hoping that the front runners will stop to get a podium result.

    I don't think so.
    But it is clear we are out of the Power game in f1. The latest decision regarding the pink cars says it all.

    it was actualy even worse before Alesi/Berger era

    We have a way better driver than during the Alesi/Berger years. If Schumacher proved anything in 1996, was that he was at least two cuts above them. He could've challenged Hill for the titles in the 1994 and 1995 cars since they were better than the scrapheap called the 1996 model and also since Hill drove really badly in 1995.

    Can anyone seriously see that Alesi or Berger would take seven poles in a season even in the best car? That's what Charles did last year in an inferior one. Ferrari put themselves in a right mess in the early 90's by pissing Prost off when he'd been needed for the rebuilding. Also not giving it a serious go to hire Senna for 1993 was a serious mistake, especially considering how much they paid for Berger instead. Who knows, had they gotten Senna to sign for Ferrari at the time when the Williams seat was unavailable, he might have at least given us a proper title battle in the mid-90's before the inevitable Schumi arrival would happen. Not to mention, chances are Ayrton would still be around today, RIP.

    Alesi was very overrated. He was a rising star and Prost destroyed him in 1991. It was fun to watch on the track but it was definitely not the new Gilles. Berger was Senna's wingman. Something like Bottas

    Yep, given Philip Morris were willing to pay Senna $16 mil for 1993 in McLaren as a consolation for not given a Williams, I'm sure they would've been able to be convinced to pay even more to get Senna to Ferrari on a multi-year rebuild project. After all, he and Michael Jordan were the biggest sports stars in the world at that time. Settling for Berger was the easy way out.

    It's probable that Senna would've gone to Williams eventually anyway, but it's still strange how Agnelli passed upon such a golden opportunity to land him such as before the season of 1993 was. The recruitment of Capelli for 1992 was also laughable considering Häkkinen was available, having impressed in 1991 and would've been cheap. So instead of Senna-Häkkinen, we got Alesi-Berger. Not much to add really.
