Nice drive by Stroll. WOW
Nice drive by Stroll. WOW
It's not how start but how you finish.
Max is really something else. Outqualiying Albon by more than 2 seconds and always there when it rains.
And wet track is yet again Leclerc's weakness. He needs to improve his wet weather driving.
that was exciting, congrats to Stroll P1
It would seem last year's Merc is better than this year's Merc in the wet.
It's not how start but how you finish.

I don't know why all of sudden both drivers struggled with front tyre temperature. It looked OK during the FP1, 2 and 3.
Why I am not surprised we got the uglier end of the stick with these conditions?!
This is Ferrari’s problem from ages. Only MS & Alonso drove the wheels off Ferrari car under wet conditions. From then it was struggle for Ferrari to match or lit up their tyres under these conditions. Combined with worst car this season, doesn’t get better than this.
The last good car in the wet was back in 2015, since then it's been a disgrace. Same problem every year, regardless of how car works in dry, it turns out to be an absolute dud in wet.
Leclerc needs to improve his wet racing skills. It seems he struggles a lot in wet track conditions.
It reminds me of Monza 2017, where Stroll was also quite handy in wet conditions, eventually starting P2 in a Williams.
Stroll and Norris under investigation for not respecting yellow flags. Stroll could loose his P1 position.
It's not how start but how you finish.
I've said it after Wet Austrian qualifying and I will say it again, wet weather driving is the only chink in Leclerc's armor. He needs to improve his wet weather driving to become the complete package like Max.
But he also needs a more predictable car. I don't believe Giovinazzi or Albon are better at handling wet conditions than Leclerc.
What about Brazil quali for Charles in the Alfa? He did well then! It’s just the car
I am sure he WILL improve, he doesn't require much to hone his wet weather skills, he's raw speed is above everyone else.
Just need to cut out the mistakes and find a way to heat up the front tyres. But the current Ferrari is unpredictable, so he can't do much with his years car.
Stroll's qualifying times in the wet in Austria were still much better than Perez who was already out in Q1, so you are actually proving my point there.
In 2017, Stroll was outqualified by Massa almost everywhere (17-2) and by large margins (0.6s on average), but in Monza he beat Massa by 1.2s (also in the wet).
Charles: "We are not speaking of a few tenths, we are speaking of six seconds which is huge. We really need to understand what we are doing wrong in the rain. Because this is not the first time, it‘s been a few times in the rain that we are struggling more than the others."
Charles needs to understand, ferrari in the wet it’s always the same struggle year & year. Irrespective of who the driver is ... only Alonso & MS are exceptions.
Sainz - 3 place grid penalty
Norris - 5 place grid penalty
For blocking Perez & not slowing down under yellow flag.

Vettel P11 & Leclerc P12....hope it’s a lottery race tomorrow.

Drivers under investigation for yellow flag infringements during Q1. Sainz, Ricciardo, Gasly, Stroll, Perez, Norris, Hamilton, Bottas, Magnussen & Russell.
Of which Sainz/Norris received penalties. Stroll was cleared.
Rest of the drivers are still under investigation.
Correction : Ham, bottas, KMag, Russell didn’t improve their times. So cleared.
Knowing Charles he will dig into this matter and improve I'm sure.
He's done it before and will do it again it's just his nature so give him time.
Hero's come and go, but legends never die!
It was Max Vers-RB opportunity to loose the pole & he did. All through the weekend, RB-Albon/Max were strong under these conditions. They couldn’t capitalise.
Hopefully there’s something up for tomorrow.
